Wake Forests’s Efton Reid is supposedly entering the portal. I say”supposedly” because he’s played 1 year at LSU, 1 at Gonzaga and 2 at Wake Forest and all of them were full seasons. So I don’t see how he has 5th year eligibility.

I actually feel sort of bad for Booker. Because of his talent he’s stuck playing a sport he clearly doesn’t particularly like and he’s just not terribly competitive. Nothing wrong with that unless you’re an athlete. I imagine there are about 50 things he’d rather be doing than playing ball but he’s gonna be stuck doing this until he can walk away and that may be a few years. Not the 1st kid I’ve seen in that boat.

If they can put something together with Murphy that will of course be awesome, but it just feels really tough. Now that Ryan Pantone is taking the Arkansas St job you’d think that Murphy may have the leverage to get the AHC title and probably be the highest paid Asst in the country. And it’s not like it would be a stretch for Bama to do it. But if DeVries can make that happen, woah.

Moikobu has become my guy in the last week. Not only does he win everywhere he goes, but the cherry on top was reading that he found Darrion Williams in the portal coming off a fairly unremarkable freshman year at Nevada. Dude clearly has an eye.

KU’s Rakease Passmore in the portal. Had an IU offer. Had a tough year there and never seemed to settle in. But the kid is an absolutely elite athlete and has the tools to be a defensive menace. He’ll land just fine.

That’ll be up to Coach, but if you’re able to make that happen I will give you every red cent of my April Mod stipend. And I’m talking before taxes!

These visits tomorrow are gonna be surreal. No players giving tours. No Assts who’ve been recruiting them. Just the HC and some support staff, and they don’t even know their way around all that well. Doubt either of those kids will ever be on another visit like it.

Would be my inclination as well. But my view of roster building is set in stone. If a coach wants a player I want them to have the player, no exceptions, and then judge the results. If DeVries wants to bring the kid in, and that’s tough to see since it would fly pretty hard in the face of everything he’s said so far, ok then.

Yeah, he really, really does. One of the great a$$holes in a profession with more than it’s share of them.

True, the 2 SoCal Academy kids. Pretty sure Odih is actually from the east coast and just playing there but MacLean is definitely from California.

A Kid from SoCal with inquiries from USC, UCLA, other west coast schools plus Arizona and Arizona State feels like a pretty dicey proposition o get to Bloomington, IN. But we shall see.

It takes a certain disposition to look at a great game like that and the conclusion we reach is that now we can steal an Asst Coach. We are of that disposition.

Clayton is such a freakin’ Guy. That kid is utterly fearless.

The value of having the single toughest, most competitive kid on the floor all the time always gets underestimated and Ziegler is that guy. He wins them games on shear will.

Couldn’t bring myself to watch PU-UH last night, no thanks, but just saw the Uzan no call and that really was about as egregious a swallowing of the whistle as you’ll ever see. Dude is 10’ from the play with a perfect angle and 100% clear view of an easy call. Easy, that’s offense 100 times out of 100. Wow. I don’t care about PU getting jobbed, but I freaking hate refs “not wanting to decide the game” by not calling something they auto call for 39:50 of the game and thereby, whoops, deciding the game. Much worse than the missed goaltending because sometimes they’re just gonna not see things. But this was consciously deciding that there’s simply nothing that can happen here that I’m gonna call. Nothing.

Imagine you’re right. Gonna have to be someone with deep pockets because I imagine he’ll be asking for Donovan Dent money. I think he’s from south Florida, so maybe if Miami wants to make a splash with their new HC someone down there writes the check. Suppose Texas could do it and Miller certainly saw him up close. But more likely KU or someone like that. The one I think it wouldn’t be is UK. Bad scheme fit.
