    IU vs Rutgers game thread

I definitely feel your pain with that policy. There was an article in the Indianapolis paper a couple of days ago about how Coach Miller follows his plan without deviation no matter what is going on. Reminds me of another young coach back in the early '70's. He used to drive me crazy too.

    IU vs Rutgers game thread

There should be some interesting end of the year meetings with the underclassmen. The next two or three months will tell us a lot about what to expect next year. I really think the right grad transfer could be just what this team needs. I don't, however, expect CAM to go for any quick fixes.

Coach doesn't even seem sharp tonight. I wonder how much his brother's problems are wearing on him.

    Against a really bad team!

    Sean Miller caught on phone

Or if you were a major corporation and you gave large sums of money to both party's candidates running for election...wait, that's OK, never mind.

    B1G Tournament Thread

Both teams shot free throws in the mid 50's percent range. Apparently it's not just our problem.

    B1G Tournament Thread

I've never been a fan of conference tournaments and the fact that we rarely even sniff winning it doesn't help. Kinda embarrassing for a program of our alleged stature. Also seems to diminish a seasons worth of work to win the regular season championship.

    Corruption in College Basketball

It's hard to tell if Cal can coach or not. I suspect average at best. But when you have a new, young team every year, the schematics have to be simplified and pure talent carry the day. That's his choice of how to play college basketball and if he were honest, I imagine even he expected better results. Now, how he gets that talent is another discussion. With Coach K playing a similar game now, Cal's talent pool is greatly reduced.

    MSU....Heat on Izzo?

Izzo could run off to the NBA to make it look like he is just pursuing a new challenge and never admit anything. I'm sure he could find a spot somewhere.

    Corruption in College Basketball

Case in point, Cal coached one of the best teams I've ever seen (I feel sick for saying that) to defeat against Wisconsin. To me, that loss was completely on him.
  11. I'm not going to bash Moore, but I don't think we are going to see anymore kids at IU who still need to "learn the game" after they get here as a scholarship player. Moore is a long way from the guys that Coach Miller is recruiting for the frontcourt. Maybe he can turn himself into one of those guys but, in the limited time I saw him play, I have a hard time visualizing it.

    Corruption in College Basketball

It's not about paying kids or not for me, it's about programs trying to gain a competitive advantage. I don't know how you get rid of that.

    Sean Miller caught on phone

Of course, we would confess to everything and probably a couple of things we didn't even do!

    Sean Miller caught on phone

I hope he started with "if the allegations are true" before he went on his rant. It's one thing to speculate about this stuff on a message board but a completely different thing to do it on a national broadcast. Vitale was funny and fresh about thirty years ago and actually did some analysis. Now he is a caricature of himself and it's old and tired.

    Corruption in College Basketball

Could not have said it better!! From my perspective, it's disgraceful that a basketball coach is the highest paid public employee in the state. I love basketball, but between this and the sexual assault stuff things are badly out of whack.

    Corruption in College Basketball

He was crucified for it, but Lance Armstrong only started doping when it was apparent that all the other podium riders were and he couldn't compete otherwise. Doesn't make it right, but I think a lot of otherwise good guys cheat because they can't be competitive if they don't play the same game. That doesn't excuse what's going on but it does explain it to some degree. Put yourself in these coaches position and with your job on the line, what would you do.
  17. Ohio State won the game tonight. I can live with games like this. I don't think we lost this game. They miss that last shot and we win. That's how the game goes sometimes. They are a good team and we took them to double overtime and lost on a last second shot. Congrats to them. But let me say this to the big ten, "We are coming for you!" When CAM has his guys in place, look out!
  18. The team played hard and fought to the end. That's all I want from these guys. They finished with a better record than last last year's with three NBA players. Oh, and Smith is going to make the rest of the big ten pay going forward.
  19. Great game by our guys, just a little short.I like how our guys have played tonight.
  20. This year that's all we can ask. Imagine this offense and defense with CAM's guys in a couple of years.
  21. He's not quite there yet, but Smith is going to be a lot of fun going forward once he adds a little more to his game.
  22. Always liked him. Not the smoothness guy, but I think he is a straight shooter.
  23. They just look better than us tonight. We are playing hard, but...
  24. Maybe, but I just don't see him as that guy.
  25. Maybe, not likely but, after the Louisville thing he has been waiting to see what else might be uncovered.
