I can agree with this to a point. It's a hard line to walk between protecting the rights of the accused and trying to achieve justice for the victim. And I know that sometimes an allegation of wrongdoing, without charges ever being filled, is enough to ruin a reputation even if later exonerated.

(2019) PF - Zeke Nnaji to Arizona
cthomas replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Getting what we wish for in the 2019 class will undoubtedly come at a cost. The five star kids expect to play immediately whenever they go. The kids currently on the team want/expect to play as well. The scholarship players as this team is being constructed are all going to be good enough to play for high major programs. I don't like transfers, but it seems inevitable considering who we are recruiting. Unfortunately, sometimes this is a hard business. -
2020 General Recruiting Thread

If they think they have to spend time protecting their turf then that leaves less time to invade ours. -
I get all that and I'm not saying Allen isn't the guy. But, when I hired people to work for me, unless I knew I was holding an ace, I looked at what was available. I like Glass and am sure he knows a hell of a lot more than me, but I think a search of some kind was in order even if Coach Allen ended up being the best fit. Purdue, as much as I hate to admit it, made a great hire. Maybe we did too. We'll know in a few years.

Exactly why I was disappointed we didn't have search for our next coach after Wilson. Coach Allen may end up being great, but IU should have at least tested the waters. I like what Purdue is doing in football and hate it at the same time.

(2020) SF/SG - Andre Jackson

I love how this staff has settled in and is identifying targets for future classes. Last year was a scramble and ended up very good. If CAM wants a kid, I want the kid. -

Your optimism is refreshing, not to mention that Mike Woodson has always been among my favorite players. Sooo smooth! At this point, I don't think CAM can make the case for IU any clearer. I'm ready to just let this play out and accept the results. -

Maybe, depending on if Hardaway can coach or not. -

I certainly understand your point and it may be spot on, but I just don't think that aspect is as important as it's made out to be. Admittedly, I'm an old guy so there may be some generational issues with how I view things like this. Maybe in the end, agree to disagree a little bit on this. -
After watching the team last year, this all day long!

I get that argument, but I would be shocked if pro teams aren't already aware of these kids and what they can do. I could see that thought process being more valid for kids who are borderline NBA prospects and need somewhere that fits their skill set the best. -

Would not want to be a college coach trying to put together a team and have to cater to these kids. I understand it's a big decision but it shouldn't take into the spring to know where a kid wants to go under normal circumstances. This is especially true for kids who want to be a one or two year college rental with no real interest in a degree. -
Seems sometimes like the forgotten player in the class. He has all the tools and I hope he can thrive in CAM's system.

Her brother thinks she is really hot! A little old, but still hot. -
I live in southwest Clay Township, annexed by Carmel a few years ago, and I am able to get YouTube tv so it's probably available in Fishers. So far as the terabyte limit is concerned, it's possible to exceed it if you are a heavy user. The Comcast website site can show you a running total of your usage. You can also set email alerts when you reach different thresholds which I find very useful. YouTube has the local network broadcasts for everything except Fox. Not sure why, but it's not there. I use an antenna for local stuff and save the internet usage. Overall, I'm happy with the service and am saving a bunch of money. I've been looking for alternatives to satellite for my mother-in-law in Martinsville and Directv Now looks like a possibility. She's 86 and certain channels are required so some streaming services just won't work. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I'd say that qualifies as a "pretty good" career. He certainly deserves to be mentioned with the IU all-time greats. Happy to say I had the privilege to see him play, although back then, I heard more games on the radio than I saw on tv.

Walt was a monster, and had a pretty good NBA career if I recall correctly.

If you go with YouTube tv, make sure your streaming device supports it. Last time I checked, the Amazon devices don't support YouTube because of some pissing match between Amazon and Google. I have had YouTube tv since late March and been pleased with the service. For me, an old man, it took some getting used to and I supplement the service with an antenna on all of my tvs. But, all in all, no way would I ever go back to Comcast. Just not enough value there and I really think the future is streaming.

I'm 70, and that sounds like something my dad would have said to me.

(2019) SG Brandon Newman to Purdue

While that's entirely possible, I doubt that CAM would want to give the impression that he is steering kids away from the local high school. And I'm not saying you suggested that, but I think IU being involved in any way with a kid going to a prep school would be a bad look with high school coaches. -
2018 Indiana vs Kentucky All-Star Series
cthomas replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I get that, but for a lot of years this series was the high school version of IU vs Kentucky and it meant something to both sides. I'm sure the older guys living in Indiana remember how it was. Maybe these games are a casualty of the changing landscape of basketball, but once upon a time this was not just an all-star game. -

Not a great showing by the IU guys at all. Hopefully, last night was a reality check and they bring a more competitive attitude tonight. -

Agreed, because when they actually think about what that means in terms of sharing the spotlight, then the package loses its luster. Highly ranked kids want to be the focal point where they go which allows them to showcase their talents for the next level. I'm sure Langford saw the glaring hole IU had at his position and knew he would be "the man". While we want to think it's about IU, it's more likely about opportunity. Such is the nature of the game these days. -

Someone we really want is going to take the plunge and that will impact everything that follows. It will become a numbers and position of need game pretty fast and some of the guys we are recruiting will be left out because they are "just enjoying the process". -
Probably a whole lot of people having good fun at his expense at the Detroit HQ.....behind his back of course. I think I read somewhere that he makes 7.7 mil a year, but I'm sure his ego took a hit.
