It takes a special kind of kid to want to play football at IU, or one with no better choices.

I love hearing that he is really good, but would really like to have him for more than one year. A year two Jalen could push to the next level and give us sustainability. Having good players for multiple years is the key to getting where we want to go in my opinion.

Apparently we are striving for a small, athletic team, ala the late '80s "flyin Illini". Worked pretty well for them. These decisions are way above my pay grade.

Can't beat the "champagne" music makers.

The thing about IU football is that as miserable as we usually are, once in a while we get an exceptional talent and they burn brightly and give us joy. If you have followed IU football long enough, you know who they are. Doesn't mean that we win many games, but they sure are fun to watch. Thanks for the memories, Michael Penix, Jr.

Any beat down of MSU is fine with me.

Watching Penix tonight, I realize that it is just the IU football curse that caused all of his problems here. Now that he is free of that, I hope he has a great year and shows how talented he really is.

I don't know if he got bad advice or just recognized that he would not last four years with CBK, but his talent was undeniable. I loved watching him play.

Probably a great night to be him, if you know what I mean.

Add WKU to Illinois as teams that are trying to figure out how they lost to IU. I have the grandkids this weekend so I only saw bits and pieces of the game. But every time WKU had the ball, they seemed to be ripping off big chunks of yardage. Unbelievable how IU is 3-0.

Might be the most unimpressive 3-0 start I have ever seen. Once again, I'll take it and move on.

I really don't see this season going anywhere good. We have returned to the mean.

That was coaching. And yes, I would include Edwards in the top 15 all-time. One of the best "clutch" shooters ever.

Plenty of football to be played tonight. But a loss here would be disastrous for any hope to get bowl eligible. Outside of one drive last week, this team has looked inept at best.

I really like the kids CMW is bringing into the program. Can't wait to see them on the floor. We are quietly becoming more and more athletic and versatile. Welcome to the new age of basketball.

Since it's early September, I'm not going to worry too much about how the next class is going to finish out. I think we are in for the best season we have had in a long time. And I think that will put us on the map. We will get enough talent to compete and then it will be up to the staff to make them better. I have more faith in this staff than any since the Knight years. I don't believe that we have had anyone running the program who cares as much as CMW in probably a couple of decades. That alone makes me think we will be ok.

Jeez. We will find someone for the spot if Page goes elsewhere. We are in good hands and the staff will do what needs to be done. The more talent we have the harder it is to attract kids who might have to sit behind older guys. This is a good problem. It means we are about to be really good.

I'll take the win and move on to the next one. It felt to me more like Illinois lost than IU won. As always, hopefully we can make improvements and stay competitive in games we have a chance to win. I'm not exactly bullish after watching that game.

This too predictable to even be upset about. I think the Tom Allen experiment may be nearing an end if something doesn't change drastically soon. This season can't continue in the direction it seems to be headed and he survives.

We might squeak out a win or two on Campbell's leg.
