    Xavier and Race

Before JHS had the back issue, XJ and JHS had found a groove playing together. His play recently has been without JHS in the backcourt with him. The JHS we saw against Kansas was not the pre injury version. I think he will get back there baring a reinjury. The bottom line for me is we will not reach our potential without XJ.

The best version of this team is when XJ and JHS are both at full strength. If Johnson is out for an extended period, it will put a lot of pressure on JHS to be mature beyond his years. Other guys will have to fill the void. Woodson may have to tweak the offensive game plan a bit as well. Time for CMW to earn his paycheck.

How far away is IUBB from being elite again?

As much as I hate Purdue, Matt Painter is a top ten coach in the nation. He takes kids that usually we don't want and turns them into a team that is very successful. We can joke about them not having won a national championship, but if he keeps putting the type of teams he has the last few years on the floor, the championship is coming. We think we can't be elite until we have elite talent. Who on Purdue's roster was considered elite coming out of high school? It can be done without five star kids. I'm sick of seeing Purdue do it when we can't.
  4. Yes he does. He will be a part of the necessary culture change. The upper classmen on this team expect to lose more than they expect to win. No amount of talk will convince me otherwise.

Twitter is more often than not the low road. Sometimes good people get sucked into an exchange that no one wins. It's kinda the wrestling with a pig thing.

So sad what Dakich has become. Wish I knew what happened to him.

We may actually be better next year because our best player won't be a center. IU's best teams have had good centers surrounded by good wings and guards. We don't have that right now. TJD might as well be playing one on three the way this team is constructed. Wings and guards who can hit the three and attack the paint would change everything. Now, it's CMW job to get the players we need to be a better balanced team. If he fails to do that, we'll be looking for a new coach sooner than later. He's been around long enough that I think he knows that.
  8. As much as I love TJD, his refusal or his inability to develop a decent shot from fifteen feet is the source of a lot of our problems.
  9. I hope so. If nothing else to make some guys feel a little less secure in their place on the floor.

    2022/23 IUFB Offseason News

I believe CTA is a good man. I'm not going to make fun of him because of the product on the field. I have 60+ years of IU football behind me and most of it is ugly. I remember Corso starting a season talking about how good we were going to look in the new uniforms. We are a crappy program. If past performance really is a predictor of future performance, then we are always going to be a crappy program. It's been my experience. Criticize the product all you want. I'm right there with you. I'm just not comfortable with personal attacks against the people who are trying to do an impossible job.
  11. I remember a 50's tournament with IU, Purdue, Notre Dame, and Butler. Don't remember what they called it or where it was played. Or maybe it's just something that I have created in my mind over the years.
  12. I'm not concerned about how this game goes either way. It's December and none of the teams we want to compete against are going to be the same in March. This is about learning strengths and weaknesses. And, hopefully improving the weaknesses. Of course I want to win, but losing is not the end of the world. As far as JHS is concerned, even if he plays he will not be at his best because of the time he has missed. Getting him back on the court will be great as long as it doesn't cost him time later in the year. I always worry about back issues.

At my earliest opportunity. Getting physical with a woman, beyond what is necessary to stop the attack, is never appropriate and will end badly for a man. Some relationships are just toxic and if you stay in them too long, physical abuse is the likely end. I'm not defending anyone but there is another side to some of these situations.

    2022/23 IUFB Offseason News

My expectations are really low concerning IU football next season. I am, however, pretty confident that we will put a team on the field. Beyond that, I'll just wait and see. The one thing that I know is that we won't be competing for a division title.

I'm not entirely sure what he was trying to say, but from personal experience, women can get very aggressive. I've been hit, had things thrown at me, and been bitten by women during arguments. I didn't escalate the situation because I knew that was a no win for me. Relationships are difficult. I have two daughters and four granddaughters, so my tolerance for abusive men is pretty low. Every situation has context and sometimes people should just not be together. I would really like to hear from both parties involved before I make any judgement here.
  16. Toughness has always been mental to me. It's the attitude necessary to fight as hard as possible until the final buzzer.

Pretty much my experience with attorneys. Especially the bill you for "ruminating" part.

They fit his system. He's always finding guys who he doesn't have to compete with Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, etc for and making them successful. His most disappointing teams have had guys good enough to leave early. Might as well accept that his teams are nearly always going to be a problem.

Painter does a really good job of finding guys who fit what he is trying to do. I think he is a top ten coach and, if not at Purdue, a pretty easy guy to like. His teams have been good when on paper they shouldn't for it not to be coaching.
  20. I love TJD and he has been amazing for IU, but you cannot talk about the goals, embrace the challenge, and then shrink from the moment. He is a big, skilled player and it's time to step up and be that guy.
  21. Just make sure that all the "gidgets" are over 18.

    Dakich

Not sure what happened to Dakich, but he went from a fun listen to a mean listen. The last few years were too much shock jock for me. If that makes me soft, so be it. Life is too short to be miserable.
  23. I'm not too concerned about this game in terms of the big picture. So far this season we have had three key guys miss games or be limited some. Hard to build roles and continuity under those circumstances. With everyone healthy, I believe we can compete with anyone. When any of TJD, JHS, or TG miss games, it forces others to do things they may not be optimally suited for. I want to win, but, I want this team at full strength even more.

IUBB vs Nebraska - Wednesday, 12/7/22 @ 8:30 on BTN

He has reverted the early season version of X. He's simply trying to do too much. Maybe we were taking JHS a little for granted in terms of what he brought to the offense.

Steve Downing was a warrior. Had a bad knee and was still a bad foul call against Walton from likely being a national champion. Trayce is in good company.
