  1. I'm 74 and still waiting and hoping. Odds are against us but you never know. At least we were able to see historic greatness in our lifetime. Hang in there, brother.

To each their own. Not my cup of tea at this point in my life. But I could see the '70's version of myself liking him. But then, again, there was that foul call against Downing that probably cost the Hoosiers a shot at the championship.

Because there people who still think his crap is still relevant and funny. Much the same as Dickie V. I hate that stuff. I want to hear a knowledgeable, competent analyst who can explain what teams are trying to do.

    2023-24 IUBB ROSTER

I really don't think comparisons are necessary. Yogi wasn't I Thomas and didn't have to be. Cupps isn't going to be Yogi. Guess what, that's fine. He's going to be, in my opinion, a pretty damn good point guard who's going to do whatever the coaches ask of him. I think he is undervalued, but what do I know.

Exactly. I thought they lost their composure and looked a little undisciplined. Maybe a little too soon to be making May our next coach. I will say this, basketball can be a beautiful game, just not in the B1G.

I don't recall Hulls being a point guard in high school or at IU. I remember him as a shooting guard. From the limited games I've watched with Cupps I don't see much common ground with Hulls. Cupps is as true of a point guard as I have seen in some time. He knows who is and stays in that role.

CMW is probably wrong from time to time and he is as inside as it gets. I enjoy both boards, good people both places.

How far away is IUBB from being elite again?

In response to the original question, I think we, and any number of other teams, are just $$$$ away from being as good as we want to be.

2024 - SG Jonathan Powell to Xavier

I think he will do what the coaches want him to do. His basketball IQ will get him on the floor. I don't think he will be asked to be a focal point of the offense. But I believe he will be a high level facilitator and get the ball to the right people. He's a decent shooter and better athlete than meets the eye. Judging him on one game seems unfair when he has been a high level player his entire high school career. Not to mention he has been the biggest IU supporter and recruiter since he committed. Some of us are being pretty harsh on a kid who hasn't even suited up yet. I agree that we should temper the expectations for next year, but let's give the kid a chance to show what he can do. Personally, I am glad he is on our side.

I'd think the pool of potential girlfriends would be big enough for a college basketball player that sharing wouldn't be necessary.

JHS should do what he thinks is best for him. I don't have insight into the young man's mind so anything I would say is just speculation. Regardless, I'm happy we had him this past season and hope he realizes his dreams.

Indiana Players Now In The Portal

I don't like anything about this new landscape of college basketball. It feels a lot like the NBA free agency without the contracts. I guess I'll just have to take the "don't blame the players, blame the game" point of view. The game is already almost unrecognizable to me but I guess now it is what it is. Live with it or find something else to do.
  15. Good point. I have friends who I disagree with on a number of topics. But, we can agree to disagree and continue to discuss and be friends. I know, weird, right.
  16. Quite an accomplishment for Ben Davis. Undefeated big school state championship. Good for them and the kids on the west side of Indianapolis.
  17. We are a fickle bunch aren't we.
  18. Coaching in the B1G is a whole other animal. I like May's team and they are fun to watch. Those guys never quit. Hard to say what would happen in the meat grinder that is our conference. I think he deserves a look but am not ready to anoint him just yet.

As good as TJD was, and I love everything about him, he limited what we could do. I'm looking forward to some CMW style basketball starting next season.

    Non-IU NCAA TOURNAMENT GAMES

Unfortunately, there are too many examples of this very thing. People who are good at what they do but are horrible people. And yet, we as a society continue to reward that personality type. Success trumps everything. I've seen this very attitude on message boards that we need to do whatever it takes to win. As far as I am concerned, no we don't. Character matters and I'm glad we have CMW leading our program and not someone like Izzo. I'm also glad that CMP is leading Purdue because we can have a heated, respectful competition.

    Non-IU NCAA TOURNAMENT GAMES

I hate that program above all others. Purdue at least has a good guy as the coach. Izzo is, and has probably always been, a piece of crap. I wish nothing but the worst for that entire athletic program.

I just finished watching CMP's post game press conference. It was very impressive considering the circumstances. He is all class. At the end, he stayed and answered a few more questions even after he was told he could leave. Purdue is lucky to have him and anyone wanting to get rid of him is an idiot.
