  1. Yes. Gives a little insight into how CMW is regarded on the recruiting trail.
  2. It's progress. We were in such a deep hole that we have to climb out one step at a time. I really like what this team can become as the season progresses. We are not going to take a step back. We are moving forward and I believe will continue to do so until CMW achieves his objective.
  3. CMW has transformed the roster into something very different from last season. A lot of potential but will take a while to work out all the roles. We are on the road to being a top program again. We are in very good hands with Coach Woodson.
  4. We can talk ourselves into, or out of, anything.
  5. I understand that. And I respect your view of things more than most. What I was taking issue with was that a coach might ask a recruit to wait until it was too late for guys currently on the team to make a decision. I know they are aware of the possibilities but their decision to stay or leave might depend on who commits or doesn't. I'm just saying to purposely string it out so a kid already on the team doesn't have a choice anymore is a bad look. If that is just the way it plays out, then nevermind.
  6. Either way, it feels kinda sleazy.
  7. I wouldn't think that reasoning would be very up front to guys who were already in the program. Doesn't feel like a commitment to your guys.
  8. We won't know anything until he says it, then either way we will move on.

(2024) - PG Travis Perry to Kentucky

I agree. He's pretty high on Purdue's wish list also. I would really hate to see him end up there.

    College Bball Thread

Never ceases to amaze me that people who have a public forum aren't smart enough to know what can't be said. I don't care what they think privately, some things can't be expressed on a live microphone.
  11. It seems we are headed to a world where a kid get an agent and the agent brokers where the kid goes. How far are we from the size of the market determining the earning potential for a player? Don't love where this is going.

    2022/23 IUFB Offseason News

Only IU football fans could be arguing over who has been the least losingest coach.

(2024) - SG Gicarri Harris to Purdue

Purdue seems to be all in on building their program with second level high school kids and developing them over their college career. I have to admit that I prefer that method over always shopping in the portal. At least Purdue fans have a chance to get to know who is on their team.
  14. For the record, I'm not ok with any of it. And the constant turnover in personnel has diminished my interest in the sport. It's hard to get too invested in players knowing that they may not be on the team very long.

    2022/23 IUFB Offseason News

None of the coaches I have seen in my 60+ years of watching IU football have been able to build and sustain a winning program. Outside of a few decent teams here and there, the program has been abysmal. I'll believe there is a coach out there that will turn IU into a consistently good team when I see it.
  16. Kids basically holding coaches hostage for what they demand doesn't sit quite right with me. Whatever ever happened to the "coach, what do you need me to do" mentality. It's a "me first" world now and I don't envy any coach trying to make that work.
  17. The paranoia of the fanbase brought on by multiple disappointments makes us feel this way. We get excited for no particular reason and when the unwarranted speculation fails to materialize we sink into depression. That's why people who are heavily invested in sports teams are called fanatics.
  18. If they want him really bad, will the scholarship issue even matter. payments will be made.
  19. How old is Pitino anyway. Seems like he should have faded into the sunset by now. I always thought he was a good coach with a broken moral compass.

    2022/23 IUFB Offseason News

I'm not a pessimistic person, but 60+ years of following IU football has worn me down some. When I think we are about to turn some kind of corner, injuries expose our lack of depth and the season goes into the crapper. It gets exhausting trying to figure out a path to 6 wins year after year.
  21. I want dependable, good quality depth for when the inevitable injuries occur.

    NCAA MBB Transfer Portal

    Sounds like a Purdue lock.

With NIL, is scholarship availability even an issue. Is there a limit to how many players, including walk-ons, a team can have on the roster. I'm sure there is a practical limit from a logistical standpoint, but couldn't a team just add a guy and let someone pick up the scholarship cost.
  24. There's that name again. For a kid still in high school, Cupps has his fingerprints all over this program.

    Big Ten Expansion

Or at least change the stupid name. No matter how creative you get with the logo we are not in any like the original Big 10. Just be honest and call it something else.
