I know we have time to improve, but if we beat Purdue even once this year I will be shocked. They play at a whole different pace than we do. So depressing to see.
  2. Team I shall not name. 35 Hapless Hoosiers 21
  3. This team has issues. It also has talent. Maybe not the right talent in the right places, but the coaches get paid to make it work. I appreciate what you bring to the discussion and it get what you mean when you talk about bias. I've lived here a long time. Dance around the issue all you want, but this isn't really the place to air social problems. The fanbase is what is. I think we sometimes forget how much pressure is on these players. We dissect everything they do on and off the court. At their age, I'm no sure I could have lived under that microscope. How about we just be a little more supportive and let the staff deal with the play on the court. Or, just ignore everything I just said.
  4. It's about who you play and when. Those games you mentioned were brutal. But we beat Purdue twice and they were a top 5 team most of the year. I'm not too worried about this one in November. Nobody will be the same team 2 or 3 months from now. I want to win now, but I want to win more later.

    They Fired Tom Allen!

The problem is the as it has been for as long as I have followed IU football, which is a ridiculously long time. We can't compete with the big dogs of college football. Not in terms of stadiums, other facilities, or alumni football bases. If we had a great coach he would be out of here on the first train after success. At least in basketball we have tradition to sell. What do we have in football that would interest anyone? I have accepted that what we are and what we have always been is who we will always be. I have watched this since the late 50's and at this point hope no longer is eternal.
  6. Once again, I know it's not the same but I was so frustrated with our team well into December in 81. We had too much talent to be 7 - 5. But there we were and I wasn't sure if they would ever figure it out. Obviously we don't have an IT at the point but that turned out pretty good. That team got better as the season went on. By tournament time, I thought they were the best IU team I had ever seen. I know this is different but all I'm saying is let's let this play out a little longer. We have talent. We can be good at the end of the day.
  7. Bad teams playing each other sometimes results in a very entertaining afternoon. Sometimes in a comical sort of way.
  8. I'm hoping for a competitive game and continued improvement in our play. I don't think our team is mentally ready to handle a win in a game like this.

IUBB vs Wright State - Thursday, 11.16.23 @ 7:00 on BTN

For all the faults, I saw growth tonight. We need MM to play for us to reach our potential. If that means letting him learn the defense on the fly, so be it. I thought Malik and Ware looked more connected tonight which is a good thing going forward. I always thought November and December might be rough. Not saying they are the same, but the 81 team was 7 - 5 in December. It's undeniable that we have talent on this team. They just need to learn their roles to be successful.

Very true. But they need to learn how to compliment each other. If they play together, rather than just along side, they could be tough to defend.

The offense has looked better. Ware is an animal. Everything else, not so much.
  12. I don't really care who does the games as long as they don't try to impose their personality on the broadcast. I want good play by play and insightful color commentary. I don't want TV guys to go off on a tangent and miss things that are happening on the court. Other than that, I don't care about them.

As a open wheel racing fan for over 65 years, I agree completely. I watched F1 quite a bit back when n Micheal Andretti was racing there. Jim Clark was one of my favorite drivers of all time. But these days, I don't even know what they are doing. Strategy racing is not racing to me. Sorry for going off topic but I see a sport I really loved being ruined. Kinda like college sports.

IUBB vs Army - Sunday, 11.12.23 @ 7:00 on BTN

All of this is CMW's problem to work out. He, and the staff, sees these guys every day in practice and has watched them at least since they got on campus. I know it's fun to speculate about what combinations would be better, but coach's opinion is the only one that matters. I also can't believe he doesn't see the same issues. Hopefully, he pushes the right buttons to get out of the players what he sees in them. At the end of the day, he is accountable for the product on the floor.
  17. This can't be overstated. Having a player with his work ethic and his skills will be an anchor for the next four years. You can tell how much CMW likes him while still not trying to put too much pressure on Cupps. He might be the most important player CMW has recruited. The way he plays is just full out. He blocked a shot at the end of the game that made no difference whatsoever in the outcome, because he plays all out until the game is over.
  18. Cupps is going to be good most nights. I already feel more comfortable when he is in the game because more times than not he will make the right play. I want CJ to be that kind of guy too. It just feels like he is still trying to do too much too soon when he gets in the game. His potential is so high that it pains me when he has nights like tonight. I'm really hoping he figures it out. And, we need Sparks back asap.
