We are missing Johnson in a big way. It's not over but we need them to help us a little.

I just hope that the Iowa beats Purdue at home, IU beats Iowa at home, doesn't turn into Purdue beats IU on the road!

Indiana v. Minnesota - Post Game Thread

Did someone know that scouts were watching and decide to showcase his"talents"? Happily take the win but something is off the past two games. -
I'm going to continue to say Purdue is a really good team so that when we beat them in the Hall it will be a very good win!

I don't expect to ever see Coach Knight in Assembly Hall again. His pride will not allow it and that is his choice. I loved / hated him when he was here and was generally more conflicted about him than any coach I can remember. I never knew for sure if he was a mad genius or just plain mad. If he returns or not, I'm fine either way.
-
Funny dialogue, but the language is way off as I remember Coach Knight.

Can't argue with a word Kravitz said and I rarely agree with him on anything.

It's really hard for me to find much affection for the Boilers, but I can appreciate how they play. Butler is in the same category for me but their coach is doing a nice job with that team. I just want IU to get back to a style of play that I can enjoy watching.
-
I'll be at a family Christmas gathering so probably won't be able to watch. The Purdue vs Butler matchup will be the marquee game in this year's classic and honestly I would love to see that from a purely basketball standpoint. Who would have thought?

Sometimes the whole is less than the sum of the parts. I have nothing against Troy and JBJ but I think we may be a better "team" without them. Just one old man's opinion.

IU vs Morehead St Post Game Thread
cthomas replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
It looked to me like the effort was better although against a lesser opponent. The somewhat selfish play at times is still disturbing. These are still the same players who were considered a top 15 team before the season started so there is still hope. -

I wanted to see improvement and that's what I have seen so far. M. St is not a good team and we are doing what we should do. Now I want to see this effort carry over to the next game. -

I just want to see an improved performance. Surely the embarrassment from Duke finally got their attention. I love my Hoosiers, but man are they making it tough on this old man. -
I have a grandson who is being recruited by Purdue in football. I have no idea how serious they are but they did invite him to every home game this year. He's a junior so there's still time for him to make a better choice. I'll do my best to support my grandson but I'll never put on Purdue gear. I'm just saying that I feel your pain.

It pains me to say this but Purdue looks like a better program than us right now. And I'm not sure how that happened given the momentum that we had just a couple of years ago.

IU versus Purdue Post Game Thread

Great finish to a stressful season. This team was better than at least 7 teams on the schedule and probably as good as at least 1 more. Could have easily won 8 maybe 9 games. -
Goodluck Okonoboh transferring from UNLV

Agree on the team. The coach.....I'm not so sure. -
I thought the effort looked better so far than the previous two. The turnovers I think are just part of our style of play. I think we compete in the second half, at least for the love of all things holy I hope so.
-
I was speaking to what I see as a larger problem in my opinion, not Troy's mom and her actions. I don't see a team that plays with toughness and discipline. Indiana does not have overwhelming talent compared to who we want to compete with. To win titles we will need traits I have yet to see consistently.
-
Today's mom is not the problem but she is a symptom of a bigger problem. I see a lack of respect for the Indiana basketball program. And I think the lack of respect goes much deeper than just this incident. Based on the things that have happened over the past two years off the court, this feels like a program that CTC has very little control. And to the larger point, at Indiana we absolutely should have higher standards.
-
Let's see. Lose best RB in conference on first series, have to try field goal, MD fumbles out of bounds, miss big pass play for first down because toe is on line. Sounds like the IU football I know and love.
-
I think that is a big part of the problem. Nobody really expects much from the football team and so the results never change. We routinely recruit in the bottom third of the conference and that's where we finish. I don't know what the answer is but it is incredible to me that given all that IU can offer we continue to be this bad.

Analysis: Plenty of blame to go around in most recent debacle
cthomas replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
What is a reasonable expectation for IU football? Are we hoping for a middle third of the conference most years? Do we want more? Our recruiting, while better, is still bottom half of the conference. We need something that will change the pattern. A loss like yesterday sets the program back in just about every way. I guess I just don't see why we can't be as good as teams like Wisconsin, Iowa, Northwestern, and Michigan State year in and year out. -

There's no point in looking for a new coach unless we are willing to spend the money to hire a proven winner. IU football is a dumpster fire and has been for decades through several different coaches. If we are not going to spend the money necessary to hire a top ten type coach then we might as well be happy with what we have. -
Indiana vs. Rutgers Post-Game Tread
cthomas replied to HoosierReb01's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Very disappointing to say the least. This is a very fragile football team. The season really started to turn when Howard and Suds were injured and is now heading downhill at a rapid rate. We are not deep enough to overcome injuries to key players. At this point I see only one more win and that is not a given.
