Next Season will be a Success If....
BGleas replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
- use screens to get our shooters open shots, instead of making them rely on getting open themselves and taking contested shots - someone emerges to defend the post and rebound - utilize our strengths, speed, quickness & shooting, to set and control the tempo during games - limit turnovers - develop a scrappy pressuring defense -
It's not that IU didn't land some of these kids, it's that the staff can't even get them on campus. Or even worse, they plan actual visits and then never make it.

Very smart move for Hollowell to post that.

Everyone has their own experiences of course, but mine more mirrors yours. I live in Maryland and get into DC several times a year, usually a Wizards game, Caps game and Nationals game, and have always found the Metro to be really clean. I've also always enjoyed the area surrounding the Verizon Center. Several cool bars and restaurants.

Unless you live in Maryland like me, then it's not lame :)

This does sound a little odd though, it's not like Finals week gets planned to week of. Finals week would have already been in place when the visit was scheduled.

Snap judgements like offering a kid a scholarship after only seeing him in an open gym once?

That is an awesome piece. Great find!

I'm optimistic IU will be better than many think next year, but I also think we'll be well below where IU "should" be. I guess my point is we're predicted 10th by some and I could see us finishing 6th, but is that really something to celebrate at this point?

I'm pretty high on Max! I think he has an "it" factor and a confidence, and being a 6'8" shooter helps too! Not sure if you saw some of his video interviews during the Derby Festival, but I was really impressed. Something about him saying "oh, I'm going to win it" when asked about the 3-pt shooting contest, and the. Going out and doing it. I don't know what he'll contribute next season, but I think we'll really like Max over the course of his career.

Thank you, Stuhoo! Good to see you and I'll try and be around here more often. A lot of familiar names!

Not sure about his talent for this level, but he seems like a great kid that is extremely humble with a high BBall IQ and works hard. He also seems like a great teammate.

(2014) SF Josh Cunningham to Bradley
BGleas replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
This kid seems talented, but I'm not a big fan of once again adding 6 freshmen. I'm still holding out hope Crean can add a suitable transfer with that last scholarship. -
The problem is, we don't want to "get to the dance". That was supposed to be this year. Next year is supposed to be IU being a contender in The Dance.

Scouting a potential Crean replacement
BGleas replied to kylehornsbyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Josh Pastner? Really? I'm pretty sure when I was watching Memphis play Oklahoma State this year the announcers threw out a stat that until that game Pastner had never beaten a top 25 team. It was so,etching like that. Might have been top 10 or 15 team. -
Hey, some familiar faces here :). What's up? So, I've historically been a bit of a Crean defender. That has been changing as this season has developed. There are a lot of things I haven't liked this year, and some of them are philosophical. So, I'm starting to board the train. If we completely collapse down the stretch here and Vonleh leaves, then I'm fully on board. I think if Vonleh stays (which he'd be crazy to do since we never pass to him) then you have to give Crean next year with Yogi, NV and JB2. It would be a really good team and, and he can compete with that team. There's never a good time, but you'd be forcing NV to leave and JB2 to ask for a release.
