That saying gets said by sports fans all the time, but it's never really resonated with me. While of course as a player, I never wanted to do anything that would embarrass my coach or the university I played for, and always wanted to be viewed as a classy, respectful, team-focused student-athlete, I'm far more concerned about disappointing my parents and family than I am a coach or school. I played for both.    Also, not sure there's any correlation to winning percentage/winning championships, and having no names on the jerseys.
