I agree with this. My larger point was that I doubt the true distance from home is playing that much of a factor.

Somebody making $2million per year isn’t worried about being either a 7 or 9.5 hour drive from home. They’re flying and, assuming being closer to home isn’t just an internet-created cop out, he’s closer to a real airport at IU. I’m assuming he’d have access to an emergency plane at either school’s local airport anyway.

With a league-average bench, where do you stop, from the bottom up, thinking "they could win that conference" on the Torvik conference rankings? They get pretty far into the teens I'd imagine right?

Most likely scenario...an agreed upon retirement date was set. Any normal person would clean their stuff out the day the season ended. Woody being Woody means his stuff stays until the 11th hour and IU being No Hurt Feelings University means they don't ruffle feathers. I don't know the details, but I do know how IU operates and the goofiest possible scenario is usually the most likely.

My understanding is that they aren't. I would love to hear that that is the reason, but it seems to be Woody being Woody.

Exactly how it sounds. Remember the joke about Woody handing off the keys yesterday? Well while that wasn't quite literal, Woody's office didn't come available until yesterday and DDV was working out of the players lounge. Friggin' clown show.
