While I was okay with storming the court after that game, release of emotion and all that, I hope we never storm the court again unless it's a national title. I was so glad there wasn't a court storming after beating OSU.
Definitely a time and place for court-storming. I feel like the circumstances (we're back, they were #1, and the shot itself) were perfect for the court-storm. Other than that, we should never storm the court. Completely agree. Watch us lose to a couple Northwestern/Penn State/Nebraska's this year. Crean's cheeks might start getting a little toasty, if not from administration, IU fans as a whole. Not saying it would be right or wrong, just saying.
I didn't mean to imply that she needed to go to a larger HS. I do think that there is bias when viewing the accomplishments of players from small schools.
Yeah I know what you mean. I just was trying to provide some background on why she stayed at a smaller school instead of improving her chances at a Tennessee or Notre Dame. And there is definitely a bias there. I guess we will see if it's fair in her case next year. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

What makes us IU fans so hard to please?
Hovadipo replied to jdailey1981's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I feel like, as Indiana fans, we should be able to spell Alford. Speaking of Alford, I feel like he would fail here. Just think about the (probably unfair) expectations he would have coming in due to his success as a player. I'm not sure, or willing to speculate on, how he would fair here, but my guess is that his results would disappoint relative to his expectations. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
TBuss has had to fight the small school stigma all of her HS career. Read an article about her before she committed to IU as having received interest from some high profile schools like Notre Dame and Tennessee. Maybe if she had taken her talents to a larger HS and committed to an big name program, she might have been nominated and named to the McD's roster. This is just my opinion. But I'm really glad she chose to be a Hoosier and I think she can compliment the team Coach Miller has assembled.
I know someone pretty close with Tyra and her family, and from what I've heard, she and the family are a pretty big part of the Mt. Carmel community. I'm not sure that going to a bigger school or anything like that was ever given much thought. Just what I've seen/heard from the outside. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

8.5 inches in East Central Illinois right now. Power just came back on and the wind is really blowing hard. Personally, I would enjoy having electricity when this cold front comes down, but that's just me. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
Johnson wouldn't so much be competing with Williams for minutes. He's not a 3/4, he's a 2 or combo so he'd be competing with Blackmon and Stan mostly and he won't beat either of them for minutes if Stan develops. I've said that many times. He's a solid get, but he's not the type of freshman that starts from day 1. He'd better make a push for a big, not Lyle because we're fine with guards and wings. We desperately need help down low, and we need to start having balanced classes so the big really needs to be a JUCO or a graduate transfer ala Evan Gordon. We really cannot afford to take on another 4 year player this year and start balancing classes.
I agree. I'm saying that more because I think Crean will make a push even though he probably shouldn't. I'd kill for a good JUCO big guy right now. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
While we need to sign another big man, I see Crean making a push at him in the Spring since Luke transferred and rumors are flying about someone else maybe transferring. I'd rather see us try to sign a quality big in the Spring though. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Indiana Pacers 2013-2014
Hovadipo replied to Parakeet Jones's topic in National Basketball Association
If any of you use Bleacher Report, there was a good article written about Lance on there a day or two ago. It details his contract scenarios coming up this offseason, and what Bird will have to do to keep him. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
I don't know how many people will agree, but I'll say it. Right now we just aren't a well coached team. We're undisciplined, sloppy, and at times just plain lazy. Yes, we're young and that will cause some problems but not all of our problems are a result of youth.
Nailed it. Crean is another level of stubborn sometimes. Blows my mind how he allows some things to go unchanged. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Hard to pull many positives besides Stan today, but there was a subtle thing that I saw. Sheehey hit a couple threes today that could have sparked significant runs (luckily, they were "shot" down by a Gary Harris 3 both times I'm pretty sure). Anyways, the times after his shots went down, Will was begging for the ball on the next couple of possessions. I feel like there will be a point this season, hopefully soon, that Will decides to do something to get these young guys' attention and light a fire. Maybe he's already tried. Who knows. I just don't see Will as a guy that accepts losing very well. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Crean probably doesn't deserve to be fired this year, or even next year (if this team underachieves), but NOT because of what he has done for IU. The honeymoon is over. We are relatively successful again and the sanctions are lifted, it is now time to start performing. Crean is a pretty darn good recruiter. Great motivator. Good PR guy for the school. BUT basketball comes down to X's and O's and preparing your players to execute. From what we all have seen, Crean struggles with adapting to what the great coaches of the B1G throw at him (Izzo, Matta, Ryan). Looking to the future, I'm not convinced Crean is the man to take us where we want to go. But I am all for giving him more time, especially with this transition season we have going. Call me crazy, dumb, or what you want, but I'm not convinced that MSU is as much better than us as some say they are. Outside of that half against UK at the United Center, I haven't been overly impressed with them. Yes, they are years, lightyears even, ahead of us in experience. That's simply a fact. If IU just goes out and plays, looking at MSU as another team, there is no reason they can't compete Saturday. Stay out of foul trouble, knock down some shots, be relatively careful with the ball (I know, I know), and we have a shot. Not to mention 17,000 of these guys' best friends bearing down on Sparty.
