Not sure what the old IU gyms would seat but I'm sure it was much less than 17,000.
Plus, there is NO comparison between the fanbases of IU and Butler. That's even counting the people around the country that hopped on the bandwagon after their 2 great seasons. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
I like the idea better than what we currently have in place. However there are obvious drawbacks to what they are proposing, such as what you are talking about. I personally think that the new system put in place is in itself more broken than what they are proposing. Off topic, but I really like that Silver is proposing some new moves to try and help improve the league. And is legitimately trying to make them happen.
The draft definitely needs fixed, but I'm just not sold on the wheel. I like Silver too. I think we will see A LOT of change in the next 5-10 years under him. Most of that presumably for the better, I just hope we avoid a lockout. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
The new idea for the Draft would help with tanking a lot. Essentially they want to make it that there is a random cycle in which teams get the #1 overall pick. By the end of 30 years all 30 teams would have had the #1 overall pick once. It is a goofy idea kind of, but in principle it makes sense. Every year every team has the same chance to be drafting high.
I kind of like the idea, kind of don't. I don't because a great college player like Jabari, Wiggins, etc. would have some form of control of who they go to. Say the Bobcats are in line to get the #1 this season, but the Heat get it next year. Wouldn't it be worth staying in college an extra year to go to a top 5 team as opposed to a perennial punching bag? I just don't like that college players could manipulate it. That's why I love European soccer you either make the cut or get out there is no tanking for draft picks.
I do too. If there was a way to do it, I'd love for all sports to have it, but with our draft system (that NO ONE else in the world uses) I think it would be tough. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
Won't be surprised to see another expansion team by then too which will water down the league even more. Time to cut about 4 teams and stop letting the worst team in the league have best shot at the top draft pick so these ******* teams will stop tanking. Make the worst team have the last pick and that'll get teams to start playing.
Better yet, DO expand the D-League like Cuban says, let it get competitive for a while, then relegate teams like club soccer does. Lol that would throw a wrench in things. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I'm afraid that if the unis change IU basketball will forever change. It seems like every passing year without a banner has a little piece of our heralded tradition die. It's kind of sad and scary at the same time.
The unis aren't changing, though. We are wearing these for the B1G tournament, and I assume for the NIT. Then it's back to the uniforms that we all know and love. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Kind of off topic, but not really. Just read on Bleacher Report that we are headed for another lockout in 2017. From what I gathered, it will be mostly because the NBA Players Union doesn't have an executive, and the owners destroyed the players when they did have one, so the owners will opt out of the CBA and try to get more money. Still a long ways off, but this would kill the NBA...again. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
I don't see why us having outdated uniforms is such a big deal to some fans, I guess the "next shiny thing" syndrome applies to more than just recruits. Those uniforms are a part of Indiana basketball now, just like the candy stripes and the banners. The Yankees don't change their pinstripes and Alabama doesn't change their helmets, why does IU need to change their uniforms? Those outdated uniforms didn't keep us from getting Zeller or Oladipo or Sheehey or Yogi or Vonleh or Blackmon or... Recruiting is the life blood of a program and the results say our uniforms aren't hurting us, and new uniforms won't make the players play better so it'd just be change for the sake of change. An alternate from time to time, sure, but a permanent change isn't necessary and really has no benefit.
I'm with you in keeping the regulars and having alternates every once in a while. I actually love the simplicity of them. Simple uniforms are more appealing to me, personally. Anyways, in all fairness, the Yankees and Bama win. A lot. We "used" to win. Plus, like someone said, this isn't a permanent change so I don't know why everyone is freaking out. (Last comment isn't directed at you, just didn't want to make 2 posts.) 20.
I agree with NOLA.... no reason for this... we are IU we are not Baylor... we don't need to change just because everyone else is. Some of you are saying this is a small tweak.... but it is those small changes that open the door for names on the back, infra-red... Do the players really get hyped up for this? Are they really excited about it? Does it help them stay cooler or play better? (Hope Not, Doubt it, NO, NO).... it is a marketing ploy for IU and Addidas to make some extra money. I would be dissappointed if any player said anything about being so excited to play because they get to wear new jerseys.... if you are not excited to play because you are playing at IU then go somewhere else and wear whatever jerseys you want!!
James Blackmon loves them and hopes they wear them next year. I would assume that he isn't alone. So, yeah. The players get excited about them. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Win the NIT. Simply because we would lose in the play in game. If we would lose in the first round (second round of the new format), I would've chosen the other way. Losing in the play-in game would be embarrassing. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
