I know very little about Pope so, for those that do, what's the scoop here? Recruiting to BYU is way different than almost anywhere else, considering you're regularly starting with 20+ year-olds fresh off their mission trip. He understands the fishbowl at UK, etc. He obviously doesn't win the press release Olympics considering the reaction of the fanbase.

He likes to say "sometimes the best gets are the ones you already have" when guys come back to their school from the portal or the draft. So this is the flip side of the coin I guess.

If that fanbase has any sense (I'm not sure if any fanbase has any sense) that guy should have as much leeway as anyone ever could. The school and coach pairing there is just perfect in every way.

I hadn't heard of him until last week when he left IUBB off a "best jobs in the country list" and got destroyed for it lol. Interesting to be on this list though...If viewed through the lens of "programs that are getting their s*** together" it definitely makes sense. I also think Cig/the staff have some key media connections and know how to use them to their advantage, based on all of the good press we've received since the hire. That stuff goes a long way and the previous staff was clueless about it.

It’s a testament to how good Edey is that you can make a title game with Fletcher Loyer playing 28mpg. He is horrific.
