The Basketball Tournament 2024 - Assembly Ball
Hovadipo replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Nothing in the rules stopping an active, signed NBA player from playing. I would say it’s much more likely that you don’t see it because it would be extremely dumb for them to pull a Chet Holmgren in a tournament where they’re playing for a prize equal to a couple game checks. -
Cam Christie is in.

Might be! I won't be holding my breath. I would like to hear about how the Bedford situation played out in December. Better offer from Oregon? Scared off by Deion's BS? Both equally likely imo, but could be something else too.

At first I was kinda rooting for the whole thing just from an entertainment standpoint. Then TV beat the whole thing into the ground, the whole program showed zero humility while getting waxed, and it became way more fun to root for them to get thumped every Saturday. I don't think things will improve much for them this season and personally I can't wait.

Split some posts (an interesting convo, btw) into the HS basketball thread. Can be found in the off-topic forum.

Probably referencing his son being a d-bag online yesterday.

Glad we’re still doing TJ’s 3rd quarter make-a-wish minutes. Couldn’t have let a 5 point deficit go to 20 without him getting his shots up.

Is Rick just calling it a night? Why the hell are any of these lineups on the floor?

Cupps stuff has been sent to Cupps’ recruit thread. Think I got it all. Carry on. -
Picking up full court in the 1st quarter is diabolical.
-
Giggling imagining the Pacers somehow getting Philly in the 2nd round. Playing a Thibs team is about the only reason he is worth keeping on the floor in his current state.

Not sure if “sparse crowd” does it justice in Milwaukee tonight. 60% full maybe?
-
Also, who had Brunson turning into this back in his Nova days? Always thought he was a good player, but he’s just gone completely nuclear in the last year and change. Murderous scorer was never on the radar from my view.

S’pose so. Just when I thought OG had his moment.

From Illinois' side? My best guess here would be...there is no loyalty anymore whether it be from the player side or the staff side, nor should there be given how goofy this whole thing has gotten. Why would I go out of my way to protect your redshirt when you're more than likely not spending 5 years in my program? It sounds bad, but I just don't think coaches can afford to worry about those things anymore, so they might as well throw a young kid in the fire when they get the chance. Kick the can down the road and let that be another program's issue. That's my take, anyway.

THE CRYSTAL BARREL SAYS IT AND SO IT SHALL BE -
I've seen this comparison made somewhere, I don't remember where I read it (maybe it was here) but the thought was it was more iffy because Goode played his minutes in-conference and X got hurt before Christmas. How they haven't made the basketball rule similar to the football rule is beyond me. It's all non-sensical.

I’ll also add just for farts and gigs that Ballo had 13 points and 21 boards in the FAU game this year (that Zona lost, in fairness) and Goldin fouled out in 23 minutes. I’m not overly worried about their frontcourt.

Most of those fans have probably been fans since ~June 2021.

To make matters worse, they went through the 2nd salary cap apron which severely limits how they can use exceptions, what they can get back in trades, and also prevents them from signing bought-out players I believe. They’re in some serious trouble.

LOL see ya, Bobby. Bunch of trashbags on this Milwaukee team. Get this series over with.
-
Dame and Giannis out tonight. Finish this thing Tuesday and rest up for a real series.

Gainbridge was rocking today. I missed going to playoff games dearly and am a huge fan of the odd start time. Back home before bed time is a hard yes from me.
