I had a “The Replacements” post in our Music Thread sparked by The Bear! It really is phenomenal television. Season 3 is a bit of a jarring change of pace but should set up a great 4th and, as I understand it, final season.

A family op I can jive with. Like I said, we've seen that and while I don't think anyone is telling interns to jump people in DMs, family will absolutely do that and has done it before. For as much crap as the athletic dept. (rightfully!) gets, no way people believe that they can organize a group of burners to run a PR campaign.

Tyme is a whole different animal. I do agree with that. We never 100% figured out the why, but I have a finger on the who and it isn’t a staffer. If someone was leaking info to them, I wouldn’t exactly understand why but that does seem to be the case. I think the army of positivity on twitter isn’t a whole lot different than the army of folks that personally hate Woodson, just the other side of the coin. WBR/white boy Rick/whatever he is, is a Barstool employee/IU grad and not a burner in the Tyme sense. The other nameless accounts that he associates with have been around and they all have their own “kill them with positivity” thing going. They all just latched on to IU athletics changing the official hashtag to #NeverDaunted. The new crimson quarry guys (and I think some of the old CQ guys like Robbins) are in that group too. There’s new ones too, but I chalk that up to a groupthink thing more so than a concerted effort. Burners that add nothing to the conversation but echoes are in every fanbase. I personally doubt there’s people on Woody’s payroll tweeting support for him. That’d be something I could see Crean doing. Allen’s own family did it for him, and didn’t even use burners lol. I just don’t see it here with a guy that has made it pretty clear that he answers to no one. Seems like there’s people that believe extremes on both sides that are really loud and of course twitter’s algo is undefeated.

Agree. They were given free reign to use IU Athletics as their personal content playground starting around late 2020 if I remember correctly. No one ever told them no for unknown reasons and they got in too deep and now no one wins.

It's all conjecture because, to my knowledge, the dorks never released financials like they promised. That alone makes whatever they had worth throwing away, imo.

Fair enough. I’m not at the point where this whole ordeal has become personal for me. I just want to win and am glad that we jettisoned the dorks.

And the Hysterics decision last week to put Mike Woodson on blast, and make him look like a fool for more than an hour on a podcast only served to amplify that the fourth-year IU head coach made the right decision to move on from them. Podcast hosts criticizing a basketball coach is perfectly fine. And Woodson has done plenty to justify much of it. But when those hosts also try to play a role in the NIL space, and gain all the access that entails, the expectations change. That was the fatal flaw here. Hell yeah, Schumann. Whole column was worthwhile, but this is the most important part. They were also inexplicably allowed to get cozy before NIL ever became a thing. That should’ve been shut down long before July of 2021 when it got going and they started to cash in. This may come as a shock, but I’m glad the Hysteric Era is over.

Tough to blame him. I’ll be excited to see how he stacks up.

Re: Furphy...that guy at that point in that draft is pretty dang good imo. A lot of people with first round grades on him, etc. I'm pretty excited to see if Newton pans out too. He was a killer in college. Both of those guys are lotto tickets and if we get a Nembhard-type hit on one of them again, then wow.

You can believe the main points of an account of a conversation that happened a month ago without taking every single line as gospel. This specific part of Eric's pity party would probably be best taken with a grain of salt, imo.
