Tegray Scales Freshman All-American, Other Fresmen honors
Hovadipo replied to HoosierReb01's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I've been excited about the future of this defense since 2 years ago + the Tegray, Fields recruiting class and the hiring of Knoor. Hoping for another big jump this season. -
No need for a new thread, but check this stat out: @IndianaMBB: In the last three games, opponents combined to make just 6-of-45 three-point field goal attempts (13.3) against IU. http://t.co/XYYQqFBalc One good opponent and two bad ones, but still. That's some good perimeter defense.

Definitely fair to question, but I generally choose to see how it shakes out over a couple years before making a final decision. Just how I look at it, and I know others look deeper into it than myself. And I also love keeping track of who we're going after and doing my own evaluations. I tend to trust the staff way more than some do even if I'm not in love with someone we sign (Emmitt being a major example), but again that's just my personal viewpoint on things. I'm overall pretty patient with player development because sometimes it takes a summer or 2 to start seeing it happen. Other times it just never clicks, but no one is 100% on recruiting.

Yeah, I mean I'll go bonkers over a Troy Williams highlight tape as much as the next guy, but guys that know how to get the job done without the physical gifts are just as exciting to me.
-
The coaches (whose livelihoods depend on being right on this) obviously saw something they liked. If they believe they can fill the gaps in a player's game, which again is their job, then why not trust that? They aren't always right, but all you can do is trust them on their evaluations. Hoping a kid transfers after his freshman year because he didn't produce and "plateaued" in high school is mighty unfair in my book.

This is what happens for the majority of incoming Freshman in America. They don't set the world on fire like the top 1%'ers and they gradually become very good players. I never understood why he got a bad rap for not averaging 12 and 5 last year.

He's been a sideline reporter recently. Much less attractive than Sam Ponder.

CWat, Hulls, and Elston were all tweeting about him finally opening up his Twitter and everything a few months ago.

OT: Indiana's Straight No Chaser will replace
Hovadipo replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yeah I'd like to see IMS get a group or person that will stick around as opposed to finding someone new every year. It's the Indy-holic in me. -
Troy Williams player of the week per Andy Katz
Hovadipo replied to southsidehoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
@insidethehall: The US Basketball Writers Association has named Indiana's Troy Williams as the Oscar Robertson national player of the week. #iubb -
Idk...that picture is pretty incredible.

Good point. If somebody had me pick between Duke/UK and the field. I'd strongly consider taking Duke/UK.

Oh the parity!

Apparently the BTN stream is free on laptop or desktop. Don't know if that's been mentioned here or not. Just saw it on twitter. -
I bet some of those actual unis are laying around somewhere. They'll just crumble when any contact is made though.
-
It'll be the 75th anniversary of the '40 championship. So however they can throwback to that is my guess.

Anyone buying the subscription, be warned. Many people on here have complained that the stream is awful and they were barely able to watch the game. Find a radio station and just listen to Fisch. -
Related: Asst. Coach Chuck Martin is hilariously bad at Twitter. @ChuckMartinIU: Hoosier Fun to watch , great ball movement spacing and unselfish play ... HOOSIER FUN TO WATCH !!!!!!!!!!

Yogi. Played the hero role in the last 15 minutes after a slow first half.

I saw Z take a guy from the right block to the free throw line. I rejoiced. -

I really expected to see a picture of Painter dancing on a bar or something. Disappointed. -

I agree with your Hanner analysis, but that's not what I'm saying. Emmitt didn't even give Hanner a quick blow after his short stint in the first half. I thought Hanner played a fantastic game. -

Gregg Doyel Talks with Joani Crean...
Hovadipo replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I've liked Doyel's stuff so far in Indy, but this is...bewildering? Who frickin' does that? Find a new city, Doyel. That's bush league. -

And that stat didn't even work. It's 3-3 in our series and they had more weeks ranked higher or some BS. Their only argument was that we didn't play at Stinkle.
