2016 - Who Are You Hoping For?
MemphisHoosier replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Read that Drake will be performing at BBM this year. Hate to say it, but as a recruit that is a strong sell. -
(2016) SG Rawle Alkins to Arizona
MemphisHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Different player and different situation, but in some ways this recruitment is reminiscent of Theo Pinson's from a few years back, hopefully the results are different! Does anyone else get that vibe? -
Possible 4-Star Forward Addition For This Coming Season?
MemphisHoosier replied to Naismith's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
This. The only reason to follow a 2015 recruitment thread, the potential for MSB musings. -
(2017) SF Michael Porter Jr. to Washington
MemphisHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Interesting comment by Kris Wilkes about half way down the twitter screenshot... "Me you trae and Paul. That would be Nasty" Imagine a class of Wilkes, Porter, Trae Young and Paul Scruggs...that would indeed be nasty. ::Takes Deep Breath:: -

I may be in the minority here, but I like what Ty Rogers brings to the table. Yes, he can be a little wonky at times and I generally have no idea what he is talking about, but I can't remember a time when recruits posted graphics and artwork from the school prior to his arrival. I have absolutely no idea what "Glo'd Up" means, but if De'Riante Jenkins likes it...I am on board! Crimson Quarry retweeted De'Riante @ImThat_Dude15 May 27 Picture IU Made -
(2016) PG Curtis Jones to IU
MemphisHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I generally do not put a whole lot of weight into the 247 Crystal Ball, but we picked up two predictions over the last two hours from Jerry Meyer and Drew Messmer. Hopefully the commitment materializes! -
(2016) CB A'Shon Riggins to IU

Impressive set of offers for the kid-Nebraska, WVU, Iowa, and Cincy- as well! -
(2016) PF De'Ron Davis to IU
MemphisHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
That will leave the program a few spots to go after the Bruce Brown's, Lamar Stevens's, and the Quentin Goodin's of the world...'16 is a great year for a 5/6 man class-lots of talent! -
Now that thons off the board for this season
MemphisHoosier replied to drewheck's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Given the issues we have had in recent years retaining walk-on's year-to-year (not meant to flame anyone, just a casual observation), this sends a great message. Come in, work hard, and if the chips fall...the program may be able to offer you a B1G scholarship your senior year. -
Weak Indiana HS Senior Class
MemphisHoosier replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Could be wrong here, but I get the impression that the program, like many others, has intentionally stayed out of Chicago due to the nature, $$$$$, of recruiting the region. This is not to say recruiting in NY, Maryland, etc. is any cleaner, but dirty recruiting in Chicago seems to be a more accepted belief. Izzo commented about recruiting the area earlier in the year, and his thoughts, in my mind, were very telling... http://www.freep.com/story/sports/college/michigan-state/spartans/2015/03/10/tom-izzo-michigan-state-recruiting/24709699/ "MSU reportedly was the longtime leader for the Chicago big man, but Alexander abruptly cut off contact in the fall of 2013 and committed to Kansas. Shortly after that, Izzo was asked at Big Ten basketball media day in Chicago about recruiting in that city. (He also had lost out on Chicagoans Jabari Parker (Duke, class of 2013), Jahlil Okafor (Duke, 2014) and Tyler Ulis (Kentucky, 2014)). "Good players, a lot of coaches, a lot of coaches and good players," Izzo said of recruiting Chicago, then added: "There's a lot of middlemen." -
Mike Miller @MikeMillerHT 3m3 minutes ago Lyonel Anderson named IU men's basketball strength coach. Comes to IU from University of Houston football. #iubb Quick Bio... http://www.uhcougars.com/genrel/lyonel_anderson_881618.html Lyonel Anderson joined the Houston Sports Performance Department in January of 2014 as Associate Director of Sports Performance. Job responsibilities include training football and cross country groups and assisting in all aspects of the Cougar Sports Performance Department. Anderson arrived in Houston after spending two seasons as Assistant Strength Coach at the University of Indiana. Prior to Indiana, he spent two years in the same capacity at Rice. A tight end at Kansas from 2003-04, Anderson caught 43 passes for 485 yards and three touchdowns in 21 career games. Anderson signed as a free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals and was a member of the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants practice squads. He also played for the Arena Football League's Colorado Crush. His career in strength and conditioning began in 2008 as a graduate assistant at Kansas before a seasonal intern assignment with the Denver Broncos in 2008. Following his time in Denver, Anderson spent the 2009 season as Assistant Strength Coach for Football at Youngstown State. He earned his bachelor's degree in sociology from Kansas in 2008 and has one son, King.

2015 #IUBB Offseason Thread
MemphisHoosier replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Ran across this blurb earlier and thought it might interest some, Shooter (Coach McClain at UIC) received a commitment from '15 Dikembe Dixson, 3* SF, #220 overall on 24/7, from Kentucky earlier in the week. http://247sports.com/Player/Dikembe-Dixson-37398 From very cursory analysis, I believe this might be the highest ranked recruit the program has received a commitment from in a decade or so. Appreciate Coach McClain's work with our program, and I wish him the best at UIC! -

Good read from SI about Shooter taking over at UIC. Loved his take on building a culture where players "recruit" the community. Wish him the best moving forward, I will be pulling for him! http://www.si.com/college-basketball/2015/05/26/illinois-chicago-flames-coach-steve-mcclain-interview -

While the drama with Davis and HMP was unfolding throughout the week I was amused that MSB's twitter feed was flooded with posts and pictures of him and his family having ice cream and being goofy at a local, hometown mall. He seems to "get it," and I wouldn't be opposed to having him around for four years.

Somewhat related, what is the consensus regarding the expected size of the 2016 class? Spitballing here, but I would guess 5-7 replacements for...Yogi, Z, Hanner, Troy, Jimbo, Transfer(s).
