Agree, he's good friends with Coach Shrews's son, another '23 recruit.

Indiana Players Now In The Portal

Assuming JHS is gone and XJ gets a waiver, that leaves what, 5 schollies open for next year (that's including the signed '23 class)?

For those who follow Sam Story on Twitter, he has been tip-toeing around this with his typical tea leaf communication for a bit as well...

This. Also Sparks has a good motor if you are an intangibles guy, and I think the staff could pull more out of him, see TJD's development.
  7. This is when the staff pulls out the tape of Oscar's development vs. Trayce's over the last two years.

If that is the case, I wonder if he considers Northern Kentucky (NKU) - basically in Cincinnati with lower level competition and an opportunity to win.

    Style of Play

Eh, I do think there is a bit of team hygiene with ensuring that everyone gets a bite of the NIL apple. If only the rotation players were to get paid I can only imagine what that would do to the team chemistry. I think the bigger question is, how are the collectives tiering NIL investment across the the 13 scholarships?

Sixth game of his freshmen year, 2020, 11min, 4 points, 2 assists & 2 TO's w/2 fouls leading to offensive rating of 69 (according to KenPom). Soooo maybe not his finest moment.

Sooo anyone seeing the staff connected to any other players beyond Ledlum?

Same. I wouldn't be surprised to see a team or two get kicked to the 7/10 line to clear a path.

Weak offensive foul on OSU there, not surprised w/Newman's 'fake hustle'...

Not sure where to drop this, but I am seeing that Stansbury is out at WKU. I hope the next staff can unlock Lander - he played in all 31 games w/ 2 starts and an eFG of 38.0 (not great...)

This. I 'think' Gonzaga, Marquette, and K-St are locks for the three line and the final spot is a conversation b/w Tennessee, UConn, Xavier, and IU. Virginia could make a push if they win the ACC Tourney as well.

Interesting thought on Essegian, his #2 KenPom comp for the season is Butler's Kellen Dunham (freshmen year). A player that many on the board would have happily taken on a Crean roster at the time. I am of course not saying Essegian will end up like Dunham, but it is an interesting comp.

IUBB vs POTFB - Saturday, 2/4/23 @ 4:00 on ESPN

As painful as it may be next season, if JHS goes to the league after one season and is drafted in the mid-first round this may actually help the program longterm. CMW and staff can showcase how they were able take a borderline McDonald's AA and make him a 1st rounder in one season of development in the system. Have to imagine this message would resonate with young men ranked in the 20's-40's, e.g. Liam McNeely.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Dequece Carter come in and make an immediate impact as well.

    2022/23 IUFB Offseason News

From CTA's media availability this morning (1/22), I believe there are four- five open scholarships (if the four current portal players don't return) at this point so 1-2x DL, 1x DB, 1x WR, and 1x TE would put the squad at 85 heading into Spring Practice.

    2022/23 IUFB Offseason News

Matt Weaver made a similar comment on a recent Hoosier Huddle podcast, basically stating that the talent coming in was equal to/if not better than what is going out. Does that deliver 6 or more wins - who knows?! But the coaching staff is doing what they need to on the TP/NIL front. Curious to see the direction CTA takes with the last five or so scholarships, looking at tea leaves I would guess a combination of HS (Riles has an OV 1/27) & JUCO (staff engaged w/Nwokocha) over the coming weeks and a shift back to the TP later in the Spring.

Richard Thomas to Florida Atlantic, per his Twitter. I believe that leaves five scholarship players from last season in the portal - Simmons, Swinton, Sio, Randy Holtz, and Lanier.
