If Woodson retires or is fired this year I will be proud of him for his playing days and giving effort to rebuild this program just didn't work out. If he stays and we get embarrassed next year then I will definitely think less of him. I think people like the thought of Woodson being coached by knight. We should all remember pat knight interview where he was shocked to get on knight staff and peak behind the curtain of how his dad coached! He had no idea till he got behind the curtain. Playing for knight and coaching with him are two totally different things. When Woodson was hire Don asked what he learned from knight and what he would use. Here is my version of the Woodson hire and what exactly went wrong. When we first heard of the possible hire me and alot thought it was crazy because he had zero college experience. They through Matta as advisor and fife on staff and we were thinking this may work. Juan howard at the time looked good at michigan. We started to believe Woodson could be that guy who could be cool and get superstars. We retained the superstars we had and we were rolling. We then got some more stars the next season to go along with tjd. Things looked bright. Exit Matta and fife. Nothing to majorly significant happened bad till we started big ten and lost a few. I thought we were terrible but Woodson did turn it around enough where he definitely deserved year 3 but his overall performance wasn't great. This season he reloaded with some decent inside talent but failed to put any shooting or decent guard play on the roster. His demise come down to sticking with x who hurt his ability to recruit a good guard but most damaging is the obvious lack of coaching skills by him and his staff. Bottom line. My belief is a decent coach and staff could have made the tournament and been competitive. Reasons we are not is poor coaching by the entire staff. Not just Woodson but a entire failure by all. There has always been those on here who are dead set iu will give him another year. Chris said as of now that is the plan for a 4th year. If you look at it though with common sense Woodson is clearly out imo. This isn't just a bad season. This is a terrible season with all the same problems we have had since he has been here. However I do believe if he had a good recruiting class coming in I think he would get a year 4. He doesn't though! Fans in attendance are already angry. It's also clear he don't have the drive to fix our issues. He unfortunately also obviously lacks the ability to command the very best out of the kids on a consistent basis. He also says he blames himself but he don't miss shots or whatever. I am sure Dolson and everyone who knows anything about basketball realizes it's the coaches job to get kids to make the shots. If it's mental that is on Woodson. If it's mechanics that's also his problem. Whens the last time one of the legendary coaches said they stink because their kids can't make shots? Recent history. Because of crap coaching hires. Why are those same standards acceptable at other school? Why because coach knight is gone are those standards out of the question? Why has every coach besides sampson not been successful elsewhere? Crean had decent recruiting at Georgia Why did he suck? What coach have we hired post knight can you point to and say that guy has it? Sampson and that's it. We need a winner and the results will follow. 2 of our hires were pathetic imo. Davis was simply not ready and Woodson simply had no experience. Crean and Archie were college coaches who had some success but were gambles. You guys are crazy. Here is the reality. We won at assembly! A game by all accounts we should win. This shouldn't be a deciding factor in him staying. If they give him a fourth year we will just have to hope he can put a team together that can compete next season. My opinion this was a very entertaining game. Wasn't the best game by both teams imo. Iu knocked in enough perimeter shots and without looking at stats felt decent at the line. That's what we have needed for a while Sent from my SM-A326U using Tapatalk
