https://iusportstours.com/packages/two-night-land-only-gator/?back_to=413 A bunch of extras that I don't really care about. But 2 nights at the Hyatt downtown which would be convenient. Club level ticket to the game, which I'm not really concerned about club level. And in my research I've found all same options as you list so this package is just not worth it.
-
Ah, thank you! Had no idea this existed. It's exactly what I'm looking for but......holy what the hell? $1100 per person for double occupancy hotel room and a ticket? Yikes! Back to the drawing board. Again, I do appreciate the recommendation though.
-
Yeah....not trying to derail anything, or start an unnecessary conversation, but I have very strong opinions about STRs for very good reasons that will prevent me from ever booking one outside of very specific and defined parameters. This scenario doesn't yet meet those requirements. Aside from that, flight options have gone from really bad to nearly non-existent from Nashville as well. Another aside, I'm pretty pumped that Music City bowl is an exclusive tie in for the Big Ten the next 6 years. They'll have the 3rd pick of BT teams after those included in the playoff and NY6. Surely we'll land here at least once.
-
Anybody know if the Ticket Office plans on offering ticket/hotel packages? Not sure if that's a thing for bowl games. But as soon as it was announced I jumped on every site I could think of to check hotel availability there was virtually zero decent (and by decent, I mean close proximity to stadium/downtown) options at all. Not even like super expensive options. Just none. I'm hoping there's a slim chance that each school somehow got an allotment of hotel rooms to offer as part of a package.

Full disclosure, I got those numbers from someone on Twitter last night and I haven't taken any time at all to verify. It seems about right though. That said, I think you're just completely underselling it and missing a large part of the point here. Regardless of how bad the team were that we beat, we still would have lost to several of them in years past and ended up with a losing record, or maybe eked out a 6-6 record. We took a huge step forward as a program this year with on field results. We went from laughing stock bottom feeders who consistently blew some games we shouldn't have, to a team that finally beat the teams we should beat. Recruiting has improved, player development has improved, and finally, results have improved. Does that mean we'll win 8 games every season? No of course not. But don't undersell this as a huge step forward that no other coach in recent history has been able to achieve.

I can't believe how many people are questioning our record in any way. Yes it is what it is. We are 8-4 and our 8 wins came against teams that have a combined record of 25-71. We didn't beat a single team that was any good at all. But WHO CARES?!?! We should not apologize in the slightest bit for that. B/c in the past, the fact of the matter is we would have still LOST to several of those not very good teams. In seasons past there is no way we close the game out against Nebraska on the road, Maryland on the road, or Purdue on the road. No way. we blow those games and end up 5-7. This was HUGE step forward for the program. We aren't Iowa, we aren't Wisconsin, we aren't (fill in the blank). If Iowa or Wisconsin went 8-4 against our same schedule, they'd probably be a bit disappointed. But have some perspective!! And another point about our schedule, just look back the past several years. Not only do we play OSU, Mich, PSU, and MSU every year, our cross over games with the West has included either Iowa, Wisconsin, or a ranked Nebraska. We've paid our dues with the schedule. It was about time we got a break and we took advantage of it! Celebrate it! Gloat about it! Don't apologize to a single person for it! We won 8 games against a bunch of terrible teams and I loved every damn minute of it! Now if we somehow land in the Music City Bowl I'll know this is all actually just a dream and it didn't really happen.

IU vs Gannon Game Thread
NashvilleHoosier replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Is this a game that will be replayed on BTN at some point? I searched specifically for Indiana on BTN.com and nothing came up but I assume it could still just be listed as "Student U". Anybody know if and when a replay will show? -
What an absolute choke job this series was. And to throw out the Memphis Redbirds roster on such an important game....mind boggling. Like baseball is such strenuous activity that the starters couldn't play today....when they have a DAY OFF TOMORROW!!! I understand giving yadi a rest but everybody?? Blowing it yesterday ultimately hurt today....and today was on the bullpen not the AAA offense, but still. It will be a one game lead going to the last series with the Brewers smelling blood. And the cubs with nothing at all to play for besides preventing us from the division title. We're going to play our way right in to a one game matchup with Scherzer on the road. Good night.
-
How about those Redbirds!!!!!! This has played out exactly as I predicted right?
-
It was a bad strike zone....for both sides. Weird game. Almost reinforced my feelings that the brewers will just scoot on past while the cubs and cards beat each other a few times. Carlos was due for a WTF outing. Hopefully he got it out of his system.
-
I honestly am in shock with how these series played out. It doesn't yet change my prediction as I still think the Cards are ripe for folding up like cheap lawn chair. Fascinating matchup tonight. Flaherty has been the best pitcher in baseball (I don't know if this is actually true but it has to be damn close) in the 2nd half but its hard to expect these results every time out. We tend to make Hendricks look like a perennial lock for the Cy Young. What a pivotal game to start the series. I love it and I hate it so much.
-
I've been thinking the same thing about the Cards. I had high hopes for this season, especially when we traded for Goldy. But we showed overwhelming evidence that we are just an average team....who happened to get hot for a month. So, sooner or later, we are who we are. Big win last night to boost confidence a bit but it still doesn't change my prediction. The interesting thing is how well things have lined up for the Cards with the key injuries both the Cubs and Brewers have had. Though you can remove Russell from your list of "key" players you've lost :-), and Kimbrel hasn't exactly been lights out. Regardless, point taken, and losing Baez and Rizzo is devastating. Yet those are also situations teams rally around, which both the Brewers and Cubs seem to be doing. I sincerely hope that I'm wrong in my prediction. To be honest, the sports fan in me says it would be incredible to go into this weekend series tied for the central. At the same time, the Brewers have by far the easiest schedule left. We could just beat up on each other while the Brewers cruise on past. It should be fun, excruciatingly painful, exciting, and stomach churning all at the same time. Yay sports.
-
I'd say go ahead and book this. I wouldn't be surprised if the Cards get swept by the Nats (Strasburg, Corbin, Scherzer) while the Cubs sweep the Reds and we go to Chicago in 2nd place. Momentum alone at that point would mean we blow even a chance at the wild card. Losing 2 to the Rockies against two miserable pitchers was a very bad sign. Yesterday was like confirmation. I've never felt more comfortable sticking a fork in a first place team. Yes, this is a very doom and gloom outlook. It just seems like the most likely outcome, even if Rizzo is (also) done for the regular season.

(2020) SG Anthony Leal to IU
NashvilleHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
YEAH BUT.... he's pointing to the Stanford logo and just threw an out of date logo on there for us. We're screwed. BUT....the stadium in the background is Lucas Oil, so obviously he's staying home. We're fine. -
Ed Schilling Leaving, Mike Roberts Arriving

Do you know how many finalists are being considered? If this one (that you're pretty sure we'd love) doesn't get it, will you be able to reveal who it was? Ugh...so many questions!! -

This is certainly interesting. And could be amazing. Could also be a disaster. Could be bad optics. I think I'm all for it. -
IU Baseball: NCAA Tournament With Short Ride to Louisville
NashvilleHoosier replied to Aaron's topic in Other Indiana Hoosiers Athletics
Completely agree here. I live in Nashville, have several close friends that are Vandy grads and fans and I was 100% pulling for Michigan. The Big Ten has gotten much better in baseball but a national title for the conference would have been huge. Full disclosure, I've lived down here long enough to take in a little too much Joe SEC fan. I'll never cheer for any SEC team to win at anything, especially against a Big Ten team. -
IU Baseball: NCAA Tournament With Short Ride to Louisville
NashvilleHoosier replied to Aaron's topic in Other Indiana Hoosiers Athletics
I thought the ball 3 was most definitely a ball. It looked like it was at least a foot off the plate on TV, maybe more. I would not have been surprised if it was called a strike, but it definitely looked like a ball. (Side note, these games were my annual reminder as to why I have a hard time watching a lot of college baseball as the strike zone seems to consistently be called only marginally better than little league.) The bummer for me is I have yet to see the last pitch. My stream cut out and went to a blue screen, then to the ESPN logo for several minutes right before the pitch. It didn't come back until the teams were separated in the outfield. I didn't know until last night that it was a controversial call and there was a bit of a ruckus? Is there video available anywhere? I tried to watch the replay stream and got the same result. -

Best case scenario. No matter what we were going to have to beat Louisville if we were going to advance. I’d rather have to do it once, not twice. -

My completely uneducated opinion.....LSU. It appears to be the only one he bought a specific size fitted hat. -

What about other grad transfers? They wouldn't impact '20 scholarship availability and we have certainly have room and needs to fill. Are we set with Brunk or do you see the staff pursuing others in the grad transfer market? -

The only thing worse is taking a WHOLE DAY off from checking the board, coming back to see 2 new pages on the Anthony Harris thread that is 99% arguing over who ruined Robert Johnson's 3-point shot. -
2019 April Evaluation Period
NashvilleHoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Sheesh, man. And Archie took Dayton to the Elite 8. Dayton isn't a basketball wasteland but he took them to as many NCAA tournaments in his tenure than they had been to in the previous 25 years. And the single point of why we look at Bennett and some other coaches records during their first few years is to show that there are GREAT examples of elite level coaches who had very unspectacular starts to their current coaching positions. Therefore it would be ridiculous to write Archie off at this point. Whew....it may be time to dive head first into baseball season.....or like....yoga. -
Romeo Langford - BCM Gravelines Dunkerque
NashvilleHoosier replied to Trish's topic in Hoosiers in the Pros
Ah, got it. That's the part I was missing. Thought I read otherwise, but that makes sense. So its sounds like there are two main options for declaring. With or without an agent. With an agent you have to go through the draft and can only return if undrafted (and it sounds like you have to have participated in the combine).
