I’m in the pro (if the first few asks say no) Buzz camp. What trip down 4 years ago memory lane it’s been lately. I recall waking up in the wee hours one morning and like a degenerate I grabbed my phone to check BTB only to see a late night Yeag-bomb about BS. But after it all shook out I said I’m never falling for that again and won’t get wrapped up in a coaching search. Happy to report that after about 8-10 minutes of re-eval, I’ve tossed that whole theory in the bin. We’re all the way back up. I’m ready to hurt again.

How much sugar do you put in it?

The irony of his initials being "BS" is an underappreciated detail on this journey. I have nothing more to contribute.

Here in Philly with the fam for a few days. When I bought tix I was surprised the rest didn’t get gobbled up quickly as I thought we had a good chance to make it a neutral crowd at worst. It’s damn cold here but I’ve seen one single person around town wearing an IU hat…then again in our post football hangover none of us have worn any IU gear the past 2 days ourselves. Should be interesting to see the crowd with it being a white out.

Having a solid season that culminates in a solid bowl game is one thing. Having a great season that culminates in prepping for and playing in the CFP and a shot at a national title is another. I’d be surprised if many players and staff had any interest in, after the build up to that, turning their attention to a bowl game that would have very little significance in comparison. I think you’d have a hard time getting most programs to even accept those invites. And bowls couldn’t just wait around and see if the losers accept.

Man…reading this back and forth we are soooo a football school.

No disagreements here. D played admirably. And again, I loathe the SEC bias. I unfortunately have to live in it. Related…they keep saying there are 40K vol fans there but haven’t seen a single camera angle that makes me think there is more that…10K? 15K?

Yeah, probably true. I’m as sick of the SEC bias and narrative as anyone. But we had a chance to change that narrative and did nothing but feed it. We deserved to be in the playoff for sure. Just seems like a lot of us are leaning on a very misleading final score and having a hard time accepting what that game was. We chatted a lot of $hit, didn’t back it up, and we’re getting crushed for it. We should wear it.

Making the final score line respectable and close (10 points being close is debatable, especially when we were only 7 pt dogs) doesn’t erase what they eyes saw for 55 minutes. Which, unfortunately, was us being dominated and blown out. The shots we are taking might be ramped up a bit by our coach (who I absolutely love) going on the gameday set and spewing a bunch of completely unnecessary nonsense right before having our tails handed to us.

It will be telling. Sleepy noon tip off while students are gone the day after and completely overshadowed by the biggest game in IUFB program history. I expect a thin crowd. And I have no clue what the line is but I’m 100% taking Chattanooga to cover.

That’s true but I just don’t think the loss to Michigan by OSU will outweigh the head to head win by OSU in happy valley. Plus if you’re going to put value in the worst loss you have to put value in the best win. Of which PSU’s would be Illinois at home. OSU would not only have the road win head to head against PSU but their 2nd best win would be against the mighty top 10 Indiana Hoosiers while PSU’s 2nd best win would be @ Minnesota? I think PSU ends up 1 spot behind OSU.

Ehh…I think this leaves too much important context out. One common loss would be to Oregon w/ OSU losing by 1 on the road and PSU losing by (probably more than 1) neutral site, and of course the OSU win at PSU. Not much logic in putting PSU ahead of OSU.

And simultaneously making all of the conversation tomorrow about all the 3 loss SEC teams vs. SMU instead of all the 3 loss SEC teams vs. IU.

Lots of the comments seem to be taking this as TJ is leaving but I don’t take it that way at all. He was discussing the incoming freshman class, right? And he specifically said he didn’t feel the need for a freshman QB, likely b/c we have 2 young QBs to develop already in the roster. He’ll get another QB from the portal to compete with TJ for the starting role, just like this year.

Damn you. I saw that line and audibly laughed while saying…nope, not touching that one. I’ve now also tossed that theory in the bin and have heavily touched this line.

I don’t care what anybody wants to call it or wishes it was. If we’d rather our program not pay up and pay up big for players then we should just close up shop. We just have to have a lot more than just money to throw around, which we don’t.

So you’re ready to see what it would look like if we didn’t hand kids millions of dollars in this day and age?

Exactly. We have one single game to assess. It’s not like we have several other big time out of conference games to assess with Mike Woodson leading the charge. Until we do, let’s just have patience and see how things play out.

I’d put our talent level about 3 times better than theirs. I’d put their effort, intensity and toughness about 75 times that of ours.

Best bad day in program history?

Underrated game we could use…Miami losing at Syracuse.

My nightmare scenario has already been avoided by at least one game w/ Ole Miss losing. But, war eagle!, boomer sooner!, whatever you say for Army!, go Vandy next week! Still many results that could work in our favor.
