Devin Davis injured/Emmitt Holt cited for DUI
8bucks replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Those are the facts. No doubt but it also happens to be another hit to the basketball program. These things have to stop. No I not judging this to really be a big alcohol event like HP. No I am not thinking we should even entertain getting rid of Holt or Davis. I do agree with Doyle though that the Indiana basketball program needs to stop being the recipient of bad mojo. Whether self inflicted or accidental, the frequency is hurting the program and Crean. -
Some know but do not want to talk about it. Some who seemed to know suggested looking on Purdue's message board So if you want to know what some are suggesting look there. I have no idea myself but since there has been limited encouragement from IU for him like they did for Hep and the asst or strength coach who had the spinal injury then I suspect it is not a pleasant situation.

Crean needs some momentum the other way. The situation between RMK and that student that led to his firing was really not a fire able offense on its own. But when added to growing angst from the admin, some alumni and the president it became the final straw. Even without trying to judge things because we do not have enough information this has obviously been a day where negative momentum is building. Not sure where the positive momentum will come from but it seems this situation has to have some sort of turn that will help. If not, wins alone may not be enough right now. -
Have you heard him when he gushes about how great IU is? I have heard him say it numerous times. I have heard him, when talking about any great player from the state, how it should be a no brainer - they should go to IU. All these things he has said regularly and recently. I do. It even listen that often and have heard him say this several times. Now that being said, he is not my favorite and I stopped following him on twitter.

Too early to blame or to exonerate. This is time to pray and get more information. We will have time and more information later to figure out and discuss the details. -

Jordan Littman tweeted that based on the IU release that said he was struck by the car. So do not read too much into his poor phrase there till more comes out. The fact that coach has been there all night is not good. Is serious condition better than critical ? -

Oh man not good on many levels. Hopefully Davis is OK. -
The reason I think the NCAA stuff may benefit us is IF they somehow render Syracuse less competitive due to sanctions. The scholly situation is probably not enough of a difference on paper and would depend on how the coaches explain it.

I suspect when we hear things like that it might mean the kid is heavily weighted one way but lingering doubts keep option B alive. Even if 90-10, that 10 is usually based on something you like and that component might enable that school to stay partially in play.

This has been what I have been expecting so if it actually happens I would be pleased but not ecstatic. If we have this kind if year, keep most of our players and add a legitimate big for the 2015 class then I am closing in in ecstatic. It is all within reach.

WAY too early 2016 wish list inspired by HH

Are we sure about Leafs dad wanting him to come here? I read his comments when we first started recruiting his son and understand he greatly appreciates who we are and our history but is there something newer that suggests his dad prefers Indiana now? -
6'4" Guard Nick Zeisloft joins Hoosiers
8bucks replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I liked what I saw out of Nick in Canada and it appears he can really help with his shooting. It is a stretch to say he is definitively a lights out shooter. If you base it on his prior college experience he has proven himself to be a good (not great) outside shooter. If you base it on his Canadian performance then those results are encouraging but limited. That is Stuhoos point. We often overhype our kids and we should be encouraged but it is too early to declare him to be a dead eye shooter I like how he seems confident in his shot and shoots when he is open. He seems a better fit than AE because of his potential as a shooter and his proven leadership. -

Who Will Be IU's Next Commitment
8bucks replied to rebelhoosier848891's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
My grandfather did not go to IU but he and his brother were mailmen and carried routes all over Bloomington. They primarily had the third street route and loved going to the sororities. They lived their entire adult lives in Bloomington and all their kids, grand kids etc grew up loving IU in a big way. I lived in Btown after graduating and worked at the HT with many who did not go to IU but were fans nonetheless. No reason to see a difference. We might have different perspectives on life around the campus but who knows maybe not. -
That was my A-core year. It started off poorly. I lived off campus and my car broke early in the semester. I had to walk 25 mins to campus for 8am class and stayed most days till the library kicked our a-core small group out 11?. Then I got mono. Still had to walk in to campus during winter. Then my girlfriend sent me the old dear john letter. Those walks were really long and cold and dark. But football and basketball and I think soccer were all really good and it was a great year. Good thing the important things were going well!

Good points. It is natural though when the coach tells us not to expect a 3-4 year rebuild period. "We have some seniors here and they're not looking for a three or four-year process," Wilson said. "They want to win now, and we're going to get this thing going as fast as we can." 12/7/2010 And this regarding playing Nebraska "We could play them in the conference championship," Wilson said. "If they're good enough to win their division in the next two years." I could not find his quotes on the rebuild timing but essentially he said something like initially you lose big. You get a little better and you lose close. You get a little better and you win close. Finally you start to win big. We seem to be in the lose close cycle still which is ok but we do not necc seem better than last year even before Suds went down. So as long as we do not implode or lose big to Purdue then he is safe for another year.

We borrowed a friends family RV and road tripped up to East Lansing for the game. Had we won we would have gone to the road bowl. Well we lost but it was a great weekend.
-
I know we beat Mizzou but I would point to them as a team to not schedule for a few years. Every game is winnable but I think the value of getting to a bowl game is more valuable to us than getting a big non conf win.
-
I started at IU with Mallory. First year was tough but by year three we were bowling. A few shots at winning the BT during his time. Most of the years we made it to a mid tier bowl and had some success. Willing to give a little bit of time to Wilson but this year is shaping up to be a big disappointment. Really prefer we set up the non conference games with more winnable games initially. Once he has the program established we can need that up as needed.
-
Anyone remember Wilson's self timeline he had. It had a catchy phrase like lose big, lose close, win close then win big. Think that was basically it and thought it was tied to four or five years.

Did the crowd feel pretty big? Looked kind of sparse on TV.

Ok. Now your talking, though we have it the other way around. I make sure to sample everything
