it seems to me we do not put any pressure on the opposing teams offense. Whether in zone or man we play a lot of contain. It seems Stan and Yogi are the only ones who can apply pressure though they often do not. With the athletes we often recruit it seems strange that we are not stronger on D. Was it last year or Vic's last year when we finally had a highly rated D? If last year what did we do differently?

It's Lamar. They should get some advantage. They are being paid to come here for a beating. It is Lamar. I actually hope the kid is a tough matchup so we continue to get tested.

If they are "reading" the thread they cannot be KY fans. Now if we had pictures.

Hoosier 7 ft Man O' Mystery Sweepstakes
8bucks replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Interesting idea. I strongly suspect the reason for that is based on how the staff seems to prefer to over recruit every year and we do have periods where a lot of kids transfer that are not getting time. So it is not so much us running them off but an acceptance that this seems to be what happens here. I would love to see this staff take a few mid ranked bigs and develop them over the years. -
IU vs Texas Southern Post Game Thread
8bucks replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I agree. This has been a pet peeve back to the Cody-Vic team. We were often up 20+ and you look at the clock and realize that will around 3 mins to go we still have most of the starters in. Loved seeing him go away from this the last game and hoped he was going to stop but tonight we see it again. Yeah I know, running sets are important but the starters rarely seem as focused on this when up a ton and the bench needs minutes. -
And let the hire Muschamp threads commence......

They are pretty recent things aren't they? Show Cause issues. I thought some other coach was recently hired who still had some show cause time left but cannot remember who. -
Salvaged is a better description and yet it is still early. Rob and James are very good and I liked what Max can develop into if he works hard off the court. Really we may see Priller and Aprils flaws more against good competition but I would live to see us take those guys and become the skill that can develop 3 star bigs into legitimate bigs. If Emmit can be like Devin then all the better.

Preference on a guy like Dino would be for him to have been a HC somewhere longer but man he has had two quick turn arounds already -

Yeah IF we were to make a change I would favor the highly successful MAC level coach or a sweater wearing guy with a manageable (hopefully) show cause thing. The MAC level guys would recruit about the same level just up a little notch. The sweater guy is said to like red. -
When RMK was fired I was glad to have Davis take over as interim. After a few years I was definitely ready to let Davis go. I used to get so tired of his promises and lack of enthusiasm for IUs history and tradition. The article by Whitlock (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=whitlock/060216) helped fuel my dissatisfaction for Davis. That being said, I would hate for Indiana fans to boo or show disrespect in any manner. As someone else in this thread shared, our reception of him will show more about who we are than who he is/was. The article where Davis talked positively about Indiana was a great gesture on his part. Whether he was a good coach for us or not he has as much reason to harbor ill will towards us as we do him. He is willing to forgive and move on and we should do the same. He was an IU coach who took over during a tough time and still got us to the championship game. Now if Sampson ever comes back, I would be disappointed if we clapped even once on accident.

I dunno. It sure seemed like we missed on a lot of guys first. One thing Crean has always had was a lot of recruiting energy so of the definite plan was to outwork everyone then maybe I can agree with you.

(2015) C Stephen Zimmerman to UNLV
8bucks replied to JSHoosier's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
People here were critical of her early but when the news came out that they kept us in the mix there were a lot of posters who argued that his mom was actually pushing for us. There were few critical posts of her then and as we start to look out of it again then angst against mom comes back. You may have been critical all along but I have seen the opinion sway back and forth. -

The common theme recently was that Mom liked IU and was keeping us in the hunt. -

I would not expect him to be the only guy they bring in. -

I always think it funny how we really like his mom when she is helping keep IU in the hunt and then as soon as we appear out of now we think she is trouble. -
IUBB early signing period starts Nov. 12th
8bucks replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
It might not be anything to worry about. In fact many are not really fretting over this but looking at that list of kids that signed on the first day in the BT, remembering past signing days when IU would send updates and coach comments on the signees it has been more common for IU signees to sign on the first day than to wait. Also, when kids do not sign that first day we typically hear a reasonable story why. So far no story. -
IUBB early signing period starts Nov. 12th
8bucks replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I agree that they will most likely sign but the delay does create a little concern. Even though they are not being recruited elsewhere they could decide to wait until spring and could be using this week to just process the recent IU issues some more. Again, may be no worries but we had a guy bolt on the football program recently after assuring us he was coming. "I'm happy with IU and what's going on there," he (Tommy Stevens) said. "I'm still committed to the Hoosiers. Unless something happens where they turn their back on me, and I don't expect that, I can't wait to get down there." -

This is a small alarm. If they do not sign in the early period pitchforks and torches come back out. -

Potential coaching change suggestions
8bucks replied to Bryan Medema's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Izzo had strong interest in coming here last time. He backed off because of Crean and would likely not want to replace him if a changes is made. The primary point is that there could be a lot of high end coaches that would surprise us with their interest. -
IU AD Glass lays down the law on misbehaving basketball team
8bucks replied to AZ Hoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Wait, what facts? What I basically said was that If the kids do not fear the punishments then the punishments are probably no strong enough. CF responds that there might be more going on behind the scenes that we do not see. Then you comment about people not caring about facts. I have been suggesting the same thing though about momentum. Seems most of the momentum the last 1.5 years has been negative. For Crean to survive that needs to turn around. The straw that breaks the camels back is often not a big straw but simply the last in a series of negative momentum events. -
The fact that the defense looks improved and Wilson has built strong offenses except this year should allow him another year. Assuming we will have the defense is still be good next year and the offense will bounce back next year. If Wilson is still a jerk behind the scenes then he may wear out his welcome quickly though.

I agree but it is within reach. If he can average 16/17 those scouts may overlook that for now. Hard to say yet but it is not too hard to see how it could happen.

Harris averaged only 12.9 as a freshman and many thought he would leave. If I remember he was projected in the 10 to 15 range. I think Blackman can eclipse that average this year. The draft may be stronger than the year Harris could have come out but it is not outside the range of possible that Blackman could be 1 and done
