Oh so we are not supposed to have learned anything from that experience.

A lot of guys seem to be patient these days. Stevens said no to several programs before going to Boston. Shaka has done the same thing. I just don't think it is that telling if a guy is still at a mid major. Now if their performance drops or is inconsistent then that is different. Creans Marq resume was just OK. Marshall's mid major record is much much more impressive.

Nick was a leader for this years team right? Perhaps you don't even have to be a leader though. Our youth has been a heavily used reason for our struggles the last two years. Having experienced guys leave seemingly every year recently (Roth, creek Hollowell and Remy) are hurting our ability to perform at a higher level.
-
Fair point. Still one way or another we seem to be hurting due to lack of senior leaders. This has been a pretty consistent problem during his tenure here.

Once Alabama hires a coach then that might put it to rest. Doyle writing an article does not necc do that

The heart seems to go along with kids that take D passionately.

Only on the outside. Some talk in the middle but not on the inside yet.

Ordinarily I would say you're crazy but he is recruiting two mid level guard wings for next year right? We do not have any needs and are already over by two. Now if TB wants to come I get that but not mid level wing guards. So why recruit them. If not for his next gig then I don't like the other answer either. That of course would be that we are losing 2 guard wings and those guys are the core and the future. Surely we can't be losing two of these guys too right. I mean one argument for Crean staying is that next year looks really good.

Is IU Content to be Little Engine that Could?
8bucks replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
You might be right but just hang on youngster and let us ol geezers try to take this to another level. I think you will thank us later. -
UCLA looking very good

Who do you think is responsible for holding them accountable?
-
C- I had prof Burns for Econ at IU and even though he was paranoid I did like his approach on grades at the end vs the beginning. He have more weight to the end because at that point we were putting everything together we had learned during the year. This was what he wanted from us. To improve weekly and layer ideas on top of ideas successfully so we could accomplish more. Finishing the season the way we did this year shows me the team is not able to improve weekly at the same pace as our competition. This has been the case 3 years in a row and I looked back and under Creans watch only two teams have ended the season strong for him.

Thanks I had not seen that. The comment was not from Glass though which would carry more weight -

Glass has been noticeably silent recently. There was a ton of discussion this week including national level discussion and we have not heard anything. -
Is that just because he is at a mid major? You have seen how many times he has won his conference championship both at Winthrop and WSU right? He is not my top guy but with him I see us having a much better chance to compete regularly for the BT championship. There was nothing in Creans background that compared except the one FF run for both

Well technically Indiana lost in the second round.

The TV crew nailed it too when we were up 5. They said a lot of times if your offense is not working well you have to make up for it with great D.
-
Why do you say our AD is a wimp?
-
And then we had two full timeouts and he sat through those too. Long time on bench

Are these guys you want on your team next year? Sure they might not be ready for the NBA but let them have some time to be non committal. They probably know their coach is gone and before saying sure I will be back they are non committal. Why the need to take shots at them is strange to me
-
They started well but and looked confident. WSU was gassed and we had a chance to go up big to end the half. We gave that up and in the second half they adjusted and forced our offense to stall. Too many times this happens to IU down the stretch.
-
They took away a lot of what we like to do. When we drove they often collapsed on our shooters. When we did that handoff weave they often contested the handoff (led to a couple of steals) and they hedged strong with Yogi backing him up. Meanwhile we run the same thing time and time again. With our shooters it just seems odd we do not run our shooters off screens.

The good news is Stan sounds like he will be back.
-
I think this is correct but what folks like me fear is not next year it is the rebuild we are scheduled to have after JBj, Yogi, NZ, HP and Troy leave at the end of 2016. Once they leave we will be young again unless a couple of things happen. One of those is that a guy like TB comes and is here 3 years. Combine his time with continued progression by Rob, Emmitt, Colin and our 2015 recruits and maybe the drop off does not occur. If we do not get TB, yogis dad said he may not be back next year even if Crean is here. Hoosierpap alluded to the potential for several transfers this summer even if Crean stays. Crean has a history himself of chasing the new shiney thing by over recruiting every year and occasionally having to jettison senior leaders like Roth and Creek. Building a consistent winner is the thing. I would argue that those who use our potential next year as a defense for keeping Crean want instant gratification.
