(2016) C Thon Maker
UCLA's Pauley Pavilion was flooded recently, along with their basketball locker room. The entire court has to be replaced. It's a total mess right now. Wonder if recruits like Thon will be turned off by that?
I can't see why that would really bother me. Now if it were every week sure. From Denver to Delaware!!!!
Many of you may or may not have known but I have been in the process of relocating my family east. The long and the short of it is that my wife is from NJ and she wants to be closer to her family. Anyway...I received an offer that was too good to be true and we will be moving in a few weeks! I'm scared and thrilled at the same time! A big time move (my first in 15 yrs when I moved to Denver from Indiana). Anyway, I had to share w/my "Hoosier" Family!!!! :good: :D
Big move. Props for doing a good thing for the family. I have been looking at a few moves too but am trying to hold out until one of the kids graduates HS then we have a little window. Congrats Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  3.
Or it could help people see that there is a trend here. There are a lot of uncommitted, highly ranked kids. Many of which will be available when we're taking commits. I swear some people are just "glass half empty" people.
I am not following you. I may not have been too clear though. I would have thought after having four top ten classes we would have been in a more competitive position on the court right now. Last year was bad and with recruiting success like we have had over the last four years the cupboard should not have been so bare. This year we may bounce back but it is looking like a fringe NCAA team. We did have 2 good years, 1 bad year and perhaps an average year this year. Seems underachieving overall considering we had 4 great classes in a row. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  4.
If he does commit to Duke, it isn't the end of IU recruiting. It isn't worth a "sky is falling" thread. We move on to the next one. I guess I'm frustrated by the posts that say how terrible we are at recruiting after somebody commits elsewhere, after four straight top 10 recruiting classes. If Leaf goes to Duke, we'll get somebody else comparable in the recruit rankings. No reason to claim that Purdue will outrecruit us (blasphemy and I'll bet heavily against it). That said, come to IU Leaf! We're awesome.
You would think with 4 top 10 classes in a row we would be in a pretty good spot right now. That is the primary problem and the fuel for the complaints. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Will Sheehey - FC Porto (Portugal)

Wonder if this is just the way another culture treats official. CWat had something very similar last year with the team he ended up playing with. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  8.
I believe Team Texas vs New Heights (NY) as I posted earlier. Some of these events have a ton of courts so it's hard to say. The only name I'm aware of is '15 SG Matt McQuaid on Team Texas. Recent SMU decommit.
I did see the team names but did not know who in particular. Since he followed RS so closely last time I was curious if he was doing the same for an individual this time. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
http://phenomhoopreport.com/nick-marshall-creates-stir/ The Under Armour Finals, played this past weekend, are the culmination of the three Sessions which Under Armour sponsored teams played in this year. Team Thad finished 6-4 on the circuit and Marshall bled potential. He averaged 2.4 points, 2 boards, and 1.2 blocks per game. Throughout Team Thad’s five games at The Finals, Marshall shot 64% averaging 5.2 points. He is also able to better maximize his size as he grabbed 3.2 boards and 1 block. Marshall states that he wants to sign in the late period, “Yeah, I will probably sign in the late period.” With all the recent love, Marshall does have four schools that he says are recruiting him harder than the rest, “Indiana, South Carolina, Mississippi St, and Auburn are recruiting me the hardest.” Marshall has an understanding of what he brings to the table, and it is an underappreciated trait that he really takes pride in, “I play defense with a lot of emotion. I like rebounding and I love the feeling of that big blocked shot.”
Other than his comments which were cool, am I missing something regarding his stats. Seems very underwhelming to me. Granted he commented on his D and these are mostly underwhelming on offense but the rebounds and blocks are not that high. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

    (2016) C Thon Maker

Cannot think of a kid we led a long time for and eventually got. I would feel a little better if he reclassified to 2015 and then we only had to wait till November. Even that would go against the recent norm but might parallel Noah's recruitment. Would be a huge pick up and if he was to commit it would be nice if he did so earlier so it might away others. Emmanuel Mudiay
There's also an advantage to staying home, in terms of marketing/sponsorship dollars. While Mudiay will make more this year, he may be less marketable in the U.S. Over the next couple years. The NCAA Tournament does wonders for a lot of these guys in terms of marketing and brand development.
China is huge though. When we were there 7 years ago the locals we met who were into basketball loved Kobe. If he can embrace the culture they might start to think of him as their own. Might lose some marketing here but if he gains some there who knows. Plus $1.2 plus a shoe deal in the bank for year one vs 1 year college degree. Sign me up too. 15.
I agree it's a bit concerning, from the outside, that we prioritized a kid who became a UL lean when they offered. But, from the inside, the staff felt it was not a lost cause until this morning when the decision had been made and they did not attend his 8 am game. I'm not saying the staff didn't have any idea before then, it's obvious by our latest interests/offers, but they didn't feel it was a lost cause. It's easier to see it from the "outside perspective", than the "inside perspective", because this internet forum is not taking place in the 2-3 conversations every day between RS and CTC. IU's pitch was strong. So call it emotional or what ever you please, but the staff is not stupid, and if they think they had a shot due to the amount of work they put into this one and the relationship they built then good, I'm glad they stuck it through. I can almost guarantee you that the staff would have faced criticism from this same internet forum had they put that prior work in and not made him a priority as we saw his stock skyrocket this July. I really don't defend the staff and Crean, blindly, but I would have played it the same way if I were them. Maybe we differ there. What would you have done, walked away? Prioritize who?
You seem closer to the program than I and if that is the case I appreciate your connection there and to this forum. Being a fan I do not really prioritize who I want. I let the coaches scout, evaluate, and recruit while I hope for a consistently competitive team. When the coaches prioritize kids and consistently miss since Blackman it is concerning. I think it is fair to criticize lack of results even if I cannot articulate an alternate plan. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  16. Thanks. So national signing day is Nov 15ish. Coaches will have another period to evaluate and show who they prioritize then about 2 months before kids sign. We need some recruiting momentum for 2015. A lot of time is gone but we should be able to pull in a good class still. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  17. Is the next one the last one for the summer? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  18.
The kid was going to UL right after they offered. That has little to do with IU and/or CTC. Maybe knocked the staff for prioritizing him, seems a bit emotional, but outside of that, you cannot be upset and be realistic regarding this, imo. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
The staff can only prioritize a few kids. The staff can only show how they value the 2015 kids in a few tournaments this summer. This time was invested already now and the return on that investment is zilch. Now we try to convince other 2015 bigs we really want them but the time invested in Spalding was only partially invested with the second choices. Combine this miss with the others and it is a pretty big concern. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  19. Not really mad at any kid that chooses another program. I am growing very concerned about a staff that has missed on several top targets since Blackman. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  20.
Its virtually impossible to get a kid from Louisville if the Cards or pUKe wants him. They didn't want Remy so we got him. Just the way it is there and should be the same of Indy kids but its obviously not. jmo Grew up in So Ind. so I have many years of watching this and now its 15 second Ricky we are dealing with, not Crum.
Could be true but the staff spent a lot of time showing this kid he was our top target. Crean made all of his games last week and yet apparently they did not learn from the Pinson miss. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

    Shot Clock

I am in the minority but prefer no change. I hate watching teams take quick bad shots far more than I dislike slow basketball. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  22. Thought good about him and wondered why we were spending time on Zimmerman. But if we lose him that is not a good start. Yeah not end of the world but for those of us who think our recent trend is something to be concerned about, it would sure be nice to get a few of kids we are spending a lot of time on. Make no mistake we clearly prioritized him with Crean taking the lead. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

    Interesting CTC Tweet
Crean is what he is. A socially awkward person who struggles to express his thoughts in a way that doesn't embarrass someone or piss them off. Jim Irsay and Tom Crean are two people that I wish never had access to Twitter.
I hear this then hear kids each year comment on how well he connects with them. Just the other day I read where Spaulding said Crean was like one of his best friends. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

    Interesting CTC Tweet
I'd just prefer, at least publicly, a more positive message. It's subtle, but "The players that puts in the time now, will be the players on the floor for us in March!". Or "If I can count on you in July, I can count on you in March!" Current players aren't the only ones seeing these. Rip them behind close doors all you want, but publicly I think it's better to come off as a positive motivator.
Maybe we need to let coach know not to be tweeting negative things because recruits read those tweets just like they do the message boards. He needs to act like a true fan and support the team. dws Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  25.
Not to be contrary, but I LIKE that we are up against UL and UK. Proof positive that the highest of high level players consider us a destination like few others. Sometimes we get those players (JB2 over UK, Noah, Rojo and Cody over UNC) and sometimes we don't. And that's O.K.
No kidding. Now we need to deliver some of these kids but it is better than beating schools that we have never heard of. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
