Three more years - wow?

I agree and have been trying the SE approach recently. The problem I have with this is IF Crean has a modicum of success next year he remains Glass's guy. Even if that success is below ours. Patience can project as being pleased with the current state of things further encouraging Glass to stay the course.

Your qualifications listed above about contending for a BT championship regularly yet since the rebuild he has done this once in four years. Then you look at his broader experience over his career and notice that Marshal, for example, has been far more successful competing for championships in his conference.

Go look back at his Marquette days the results are the same. The DWade year was the exception. Otherwise his teams performed poorly down the stretch.

I expect the coach at Indiana to have his teams playing basketball at near peak levels at the end of the year. Sure there will be some off years for this but in general I want to see a team improve such that our late season record reflects it. We showed we could play with the best teams in the country early in that year but we played tired and uninspired down the stretch. The NCAA is a deal where in one night we can be eliminated I get that but we looked clueless against Syracuse. If you are going to lose go down playing a great game. I am fine to say we lose one year in the sweet sixteen when we should have gone further but in four years since the rebuild we entered the tourney with a highly ranked team capable of winning it all once. Crean needs to have more capable teams annually.

If you look back at the 2012-13 season we won in late Feb at MSU and then we were barely better than a .500 team the remaining 30-40 days. The poor performance down the stretch coupled with poor play in the BTT and the NCAA tourney (remember we barely beat temple) were what caused the disappointments in that season. It was not a 1 game bad night but well over a month where our performance down the stretch did not match our early season success. We have had bad season finishes 3 years in a row now. We do share similar expectations for continued success. Hopefully you agree that we have only had that 1 year over the last four.

Ok maybe I misunderstood on the transfers. If Crean has it all figured out now what are you expectations for next year? If he stays ten years what are your expectations for BT and NCAA success over that decade?

What I find ironic is that you defend Crean on the transfers because they were not devoping at a big time program. Now when we start to criticize Crean for not developing into a big time level coach you argue we would stay the course and wait for him to develop. He appears to have this year. What are your expectations for our BT and NCAA success next year if we land Bryant and if we do not?

Should help but it did not help with Jeremiah Rivers brother. Of course Jeremiah did not do so well here despite playing a ton but Austin Rivers seemed to think we did not get enough out of his brother.

I think there is that but I think the players come here with the idea that they will be playing late in the tourney. They want to compete too, probably more than we do, and when it does not happen you start to question a lot of things, coaching included. Had I a chance to go to a few schools and the one I chose did the worst of them I would be upset and it would be easy to question things. Is he part of that problem? Sure but remember when Cody kept choosing to drive against teams his soph year instead of shooting the midrange J? Brings up memories of JBj driving in against bigs and having his shot rejected time and time again. Now remember Crean being interviewed before half time and saying we were not driving the lane enough? Sometimes you have different ideas on how to win and you differ from the coach. Well the originator of the post that originated this post responded a page back that he is looking to leave literally because of Crean. That sounds like dislike. It might be all on JBj but this would be two McDs in a row that developed a dislike for Crean in 1 year. Might be a kid problem might be a Crean problem that we do not know but we do know that it is a program problem.

Let me ask you what you would expect IU to accomplish over the next decade if Crean were to stay? Specifically wondering what your expectations are with regards to BT and NCAA performance?

I have heard now 3 independent accounts of Crean has favorites amongst the team makes me think that too could play a big part.
