If you heard Dakich say multiple times this week that most, not some, but most top coaches would live this job would that change your mind? What if he even threw out that Matta, a guy he knows pretty well, would live this job.

So let's say things are happening behind the scenes for TC to step down. Glass cannot say much until it is final. Which brings is to the public support comments from Glass. Further, Assuming he is doing that to keep some order and to possibly keep recruiting efforts preserved for a bit I wonder if there might be some way to send a don't worry message. Taking Glass comments and assuming that he truly thinks TC has done a great job is naturally maddening for fans. So assuming the AD is a fool and not aware of fan frustration a logical next step is to boycot, boo or act in such a way as to send a clearer message. Note I am not advocating that but understand how frustrated fans get there. So now, again assuming things are happening behind the scenes it might be good for the AD to somehow alert some fans to be patient the message has been heard. Recently there was a post describing how at times IU would contact the message boards and ask to have something taken down. So, they clearly have a contact method with the boards - just wondering if it might be wise to alert a few discreet mods on the boards to pass a long such a message.

Sort of similar, I wonder how the few posters who believe Glass comments this week as absolute but then turns around and does the opposite. Will they resent Glass?

Dakich pointed out earlier this year and again today that IU has was looking to do the same back when he was on the staff. I hope that gets reversed but if true it would be very disappointing and would match up with his post

I think he had to say something. I posted a couple of hours earlier wondering if he had commented yet. I assumed he would and thought he would be supportive. Now that being said, he does a good job of sounding convincing.

Any hire is going to have some risk, even Stevens. Keeping Crean probably has more risk. He will have to perform at a higher level than His last four years here plus his time at Marq. He will have to do that while having things stacked against him in recruiting (air of doubt about his tenure). Crean was sitting in a great place mid year and has the easy part of the schedule ahead of him. And yet for the third year in a row his teams underperform down the stretch. His coaching and the on court results have put him in this place and I think it is unrecoverable.

You should at least try and use a good argument. Davis had 6 years and took over a team that was in pretty good shape. Sampson had 2 years and was a cheater and a terrible hire. Dakich was interim and had about a month. Should not be in your argument. Crean has had 7 years. So outside of Sampson who created a toxic culture and cheated you are arguing that 6 years for Davis and 7 for Crean is not enough time to determine their abilities. You are correct you cannot build a consistent winner (at least we are on the same page wanting this) if you keep losing coaches. I would argue that Davis has shown he was the wrong guy to build a consistent winner. Sampson was clearly a bad fit. Creans last four years plus his time at Marquette seems to strongly suggest he is not the guy to build a consistent winner.

Make a choice. Keep Crean or fire him. Either way you are wishing for something. Warning folks about getting what you wished and then not taking a position is silly. If you want Crean that comes with risks too.

What do you mean with your last sentence? If the extension might not come into play does that mean he is still likely to retain Crean?

Not really. There is another layer between for coaches like Bo and Matta. Guys that compete yearly for their conference title but have not won a championship. Those guys would be a triple and that would be better. Heck even a strong double would be better.

Very weak that he sent that many players out there. It was a clear blame them not me thing.

This is why I have been saying since PU that it HS to be this year. If we wait till next year we probably are a little better, make the tourney and even though we lose everyone the pressure is off.

While true, when you have this three years in a row you have to look beyond the players.
