I have been in the group questioning whether Crean is the guy to take us to another level and to win consistently. That being said I think he can improve his odds by building teams based on his strengths. 3 and 4 stars that can develop into stars and that will generally stay 3 years or so. When he spends a ton of time on guys and misses it is concerning because 1 bad class is hard to overcome. It seems when he finds 3* guys early they tend to be workers who will develop. When we find them late (Holt, April, Max) they end up not fitting as well

Sorry to hear that. It has to be hard to wait for the results. Our minds can really bog us down with worry. Will pray for healthy results and perseverance while waiting.

Yeah I just looked that up too. Not good getting blown out but good to see him as the leading scorer.

I have concerns when we miss on primary targets whether they are 3,4 or 5 star kids. We have missed on a lot of our primary candidates.

I think this is my point as well. We whiff on so many kids that we prioritize, spend time and money recruiting but don't land. We were supposed to be in such great shape with the 2017 class and we missed on all the priorities.

Why?

The poster referenced Bryant and Syracuse sanctions. You then posted that in an interview he said that did not matter. This has nothing to do with reporters or articles or who was leading. Just that the Syracuse sanctions helped us land him. I do find it hard to believe that he did not have some sort of list with pros and cons and the sanctions would not have been a big factor against them.

If he had said that to me while just hanging out then yeah I might believe it.

Since we are in Indiana we should get our share of top talent since the state produces so many. If we could get our share of the states 5* kids and then mix in with 3 and 4 star kids that the coaches prioritize during recruiting and develop while here big wins should consistently follow. When we win consistently then our recruiting should pick up. We had a pretty good two year run and our recruiting results however have picked up. Crean works recruiting hard, pretty good two year run, strong Indiana HS class for next year and we don't cash in. Now if Crean had prioritized a few other kids over Wilkes I might have questioned it but would have given the benefit of the doubt because of some diamonds he has found. A lot of those diamonds though were not after thoughts and that is potentially where we are heading.

Part of the question is how good do we want to be? I have had doubts about Crean but think he can bring us up yet another notch in the postseason. He can't have the down years though and needs to blend consistency with some further NCAA runs. When he prioritizes recruits though and then misses on them I get concerned.

Maybe he really likes IU and UCLA and can check us out more because we are close so he is smart and checks it out. In the end he may have spent a lot of time here but decides during the last week/days to go to UCLA. That is not stringing us along and is probably what is going on.

It isn't about threes or nets really with him. It is about D and the rest of the game. Glad to hear he had at least one steal. Hopefully he can greatly improve those parts of his game

If you watch the first half pick i get why he threw it. TY makes the cut and at about the time Luck has to decide to throw or not TY had come around and was just past the defender. Inexplicably TYs momentum slowed and the corner broke to the ball faster. Had TY kept running he would have had a half step gap.

Miles will go to a bigger program - he got fired for not winning enough. He still won a lot. Now NDs Kelly - that may be possible and may still be a big hire

What/who?

It is not only the amount you have to pay Miles to consider but he is used to having highly paid assistant coaches with him. Could PU double (maybe triple) the head coaching salary and more than double to cost for top coordinators?

Cody Zeller's seemed to be similar. UNC and IU seemed ahead and sources from both were convinced. Butler may have been behind but there seemed to be some small buzz occasionally with them too.
