(2018) PF Jake Forrester to IU

Come on. If so easy why did Purdue hire two guys before the current coach who were terrible? It is not an easy process to find a new coach and even when you do it is not common that the new coach will have instant success. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  3. Sometimes you swing and miss and get better. Looked up DG to try and find season numbers and could only find 3 games. For 2018-19 DG may still prove to be the better player but I am feeling very good about who we got for 2018-22 and beginning to think RP is closing the gap for 2018-19. Also good to have the kid who was not suspended during the season. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

    IU Volleyball

We are building a new volleyball building right? That might be an indication of our support being higher than Maryland and perhaps he saw that as an better opportunity Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  5. Seems like he has big game after big game. I know Garlands first game was big but anyone know how Garland has played since. Against 4a talent in Indiana RP is having a very big senior year. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  6. I had the game on while driving. Fisch yelled "that was a bull crap call" when they called the foul on Hartman. Then kept saying "justice" when the ND guy missed the free throws He did not like the Hartman foul and was a little out of character in his frustration. Good stuff Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

    Three Year Rebuild?

I agree as well. There are a few posters on here, and I am sure they represent a portion of the fan base, that are already in that worry mode but I don't think that is a big number overall. Folks are cool now, we are generally seeing things that take time to yield results on the court but seem to be building a culture we have wanted. Defense is a good example. It is hard to switch from where we were to a defensively strong team overnight. But we are seeing the focus turn. Another is with turnovers or dumb shots. Our TOs are way down already and if you make a dumb TO or shot you come out. As we see those things we trade them now for wins because we believe those will yield the future results we want. One year guys may not be attracted to that initially either and I am ok trading long term success to build it the right way that means we lose out on some guys over the next couple years. If we end up last in the BT this year and in the bottom 3 next year then we can have concerns but if we compete and find our way to the middle of the pack and we see improvement as the year goes on folks won't panic they will rejoice and say Dilly Dilly! So if you are in a panic mode or think some guy is a must get, just sit back, think about IU a couple years down the road and keep telling yourself Dilly Dilly and you will feel much better. Three Year Rebuild?

Honestly, given that Archie was only on the job a short time, he got a heck of a class. I am pretty sure you even said that. I think many were feeling pretty good and then we started to feel giddy when we thought we might get DG. Eventually we will need to bring in 5 star kids but I can't fathom even being worried about that yet. I spent the last several years arguing for a change and understand that perspective but my goodness some of you seem to get to panic mode very quick. Right now we should enjoy that we got our change and let Arch have some time to right the ship. I have no worries about years 1 or 2 and am far more interested in years 3-10. Victor Oladipo - Memphis Grizzlies

I agree now but I think playing there really helped Vic. I think he learned the value of getting in great shape and began to see how he could play that Westbrook style himself. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

    Allen was the correct choice

IUs football program is historically one of the losingest programs in the country. Then on top of that We have some of the nations top programs just in our division and get to play them every year. So, let's be a little realistic about who we are and who would want to coach here. Game thread : IU vs Iowa - 12/4

That improved vertical for DD seems to have been exaggerated. He cannot get off the floor for a rebound unless he is moving. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  15. I have no idea if his recruitment was clean or not but the guy you cite as one who can build a quick relationship wrecked the program. Why keep whining about Romeo? We fell far behind in his recruitment and as a result we fired the coach. Archie is playing catch and doing OK. Will he get him, I have no idea but losing him is more on Crean than on Archie. I just don't get why you keep this up? Do you want to get rid of Archie if he misses on Romeo? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  16. This is one of the biggest reasons why Crean was fired. I am far from an Archie apologist but the reason we are so far behind on Romeo is Creans fault and he paid the price. You cite as an critical example of Archie how Kelvin got Gordon to flip in a short amount of time. How did that work out for us? You really want to follow that example? Is a must get recruit one where you have to risk so much that your program is in shambles months after that kid commits? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  17. If we lose him to Vandy, you realize every other program also lost him to Vandy. UK, Kansas, Duke, MSU all would have lost him to Vandy. While we have an advantage of being the state school we had a bigger disadvantage of have coach Crean while other programs we building relationships with him. We lost that home school advantage and have been making up ground big time but we may not catch all the way up. You don't flip a switch and automatically get all your top recruits, and their families, to believe you are the best fit for them. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I agree. Crean was a good recruiter and had some big commitments but at Indiana he was no where near being a great recruiter Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

    (2021) CG Jalen Blackmon

What if we get 3 of the top 4 kids in that class? What if we get a kid from Ohio that is ranked higher plus the 3 in state kids? No one kid is a must get. Even if Romeo were only a sophomore now and Archie had 2 more years to work on him. He too would not be a must get. The must's are that we as a program get back to competing for BT titles year after year and get back to competing nationally by getting to FFs here and there. If we miss out on the highest rated IN player but are able to win a championship it does matter. Can we win BT titles and compete nationally without always winning the state recruits? It might be harder but yes. When your mindset becomes "we have to get player x" then you become willing to sacrifice the team culture to lure that kid. I am more interested in building a winning culture that attracts to talent to keep winning year after year. That will mean some kids, even great IN kids, will fit better elsewhere Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  21. That is cool congrats. If anyone from Kansas or Vandy asks tell them he looked really bad. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  22. There is a reason why Crean was fired right? It wasn't just about peaking at sweet 16 it was also the down cycles. This was his down cycle with good but not great recruits coming in. I expected more this year but am not at all worried about Archie and what he will likely do here. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  23. The question is is he following his dads approach or his brothers? Homer seemed a great and honest guy and often found kids overseas. General consensus on his brother Scott is that he is shady. Hopefully Bryce is able to recruit clean and coach well. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
