    So some concerns I’m having...

So I don’t think you are suggesting that we should only expect a great staff to develop top 50 kids right? We have a cupboard full of 4 star recruits though. I would expect a great staff to be very good at developing 3 star kids and up over time. The staff has had 2 years with many of the kids and they are about the same. Maybe 2 years with kids you did not recruit is not enough time. I can accept that, but it is as the thread title is named a concern I am having. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

    So some concerns I’m having...

Remember all our optimism about having the best coaching staff in college basketball? Remember how optimistic we were about player development when we hired Schilling? Early on things looked promising as JMO really blossomed last year but after more time I am not seeing it. Has anyone really seemed to get much better? McBob seems worse, Davis has been hurt too much to say, Green has been a little better, Moore has had a small improvement, Smith can jump high but looked better at the end of last year, Al has been a little better. With such an amazing staff and a great developer of players in Schilling, where is the improvement? Sure Al and Green are a little better but they would be a little better in year 2 at any school. So yeah it is early and admiringly I am looking for improvement on offense but some of these guys have had 2 off seasons to develop and yet I am not seeing any early improvements that warrant the claims made about the staff. Hopefully we can start to see development, better than average development, as the year goes on. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I think this is a fair take. The problem though is that while a loss is just a loss we have not looked good for several games now. I would feel a lot better had we lost close hard fought games. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

That is fine but what changes next year to improve that? Our veterans have had 2 off seasons to make improvements and outside of JMO, it hasn’t happened. So assuming that the current gouts will make big improvements is just hope Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

This is the problem I have. It would be one thing if Archie was having to rely on a bunch of freshmen but he isn’t. We have a lot of veterans and we have a top 5 recruit this year. Since We won’t have those pieces next year so any concerns this year are probably warranted. Hopefully they can finish strong Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Ok so next year is the year then. Despite having Morgan and Romeo this year, year three will be the year we break through. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Seems like a lot of money has been going towards our sports though. Football salaries went way up. They bumped a coordinator salary $500k with the new OC. They had several building projects with the stadium and it is now all filled in. New weight room too Basketball we have cook hall, assembly hall renovation, locker rooms and we know the salaries have been high. Creans recruiting budget was extremely high as well. Then you have the baseball stadium the new wrestling volleyball center as well. It seems like money has been flowing to athletics I have no idea if he is a good president but our lack of success seems more related to mediocre coaching than support from the president. How does our roster compare against Nebraska’s or Michigan’s. How about Purdue who lost everyone except Edwards. How about we make an effort to not spot our opponents a double digit lead every game. Sure there are some excuses/things to consider but this is not just one game. 10. Regarding John B from Wikipedia - doesn’t sound too bad. Beilein's second Michigan team, the 2008–09 Wolverines took a significant step forward. On November 20, the unranked Wolverines upset #4-ranked UCLA, recording their first win over a top-five team in eleven years.[147][148] On December 6, Michigan posted its second win of the season over a top-five opponent in a rematch against #4 ranked Duke.[149][150] The Wolverines reached the top 25 in the national rankings on December 22, its first appearance since the February 6, 2006.[151] On February 26, Michigan defeated the #16-ranked Purdue team 87–78, raising its record to 3–4 against ranked opponents on the season.[152] At the conclusion of the 2008–09 Big Ten season, Michigan was given a seven seed in the 2009 Big Ten Tournament. A win over Iowa in the Big Ten Tournament on March 12 was the Wolverines' twentieth of the season. With that win, Beilein had achieved a 20-win season at seven different schools, including four at the Division I level (Canisius, Richmond, West Virginia, Michigan).[3] Three days later, Beilein's Wolverines earned a bid to the 2009 NCAA Tournament, the school's first appearance in 11 years. There, tenth-seeded Michigan defeated the seventh-seeded Clemson Tigers 62–59[153] before losing in the second round to Oklahoma 73–63.[154] Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I went from not too concerned to absolutely doubtful. It is not just a loss to Nebraska but a series of bad games and then a loss tonight with marginal effort or concern. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

    IUBB vs. Illinois - Thurs., 1/3 @ 7:00

Were you there? I was and it was not raucous like other times I have been but it was not dead in the hall. When we were closing the gap in the fiat half the crowd was into each possession. When we had the multiple shot clock violations on Illinois the crowd was loud while we were on D. When they started to come back in the second half the crowd was loud. Not the loudest I have heard but certainly never thought man this crowd needs to get involved. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Is the OC job here that attractive? I know we would love to hire a solid OC but if you were such a person and had a chance to go to a school where the HC could be on the hot seat if the team does not go to a bowl game would this be better than other options you have? You could spin it to we are a good offense away from going bowling but if this OC is moving up because they are coveted that means they are likely trading stability for $. This OC might also have an opportunity to go to a start up opportunity with a program bringing in a completely new staff. In this situation he likely has a few years to make the transition whereas here he may need to dramatically improve our offense in one year or we could see the entire staff let go. I think this job has some appeal but we may find our first choices have better or more stable options. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
