I have not been in the McCollum camp but one big difference between him and Archie is McCollum has been a HC 15 years and has a good idea what wins. He would have to make some changes but you can supplement him with veteran advisors to help with that. Most up and comers have not been coaching very long.

Insiders are not really there to tell you definitely what will happen. Things change in the process. Insiders can get you the behind the scenes activity to let you know how the process went down. Could these long time posters, who may have missed the hire 4 years ago and to some extent last year, be lying? Sure, but they have been right about other details and their long history here gives them cred. If you listen to @Chris007multiple times he has shared somethings but often says he is not sure if someone is coming.

I am fine with him if vetted. Just looking for more reason to believe

Not asking for a name but some context for how you derive this. I know how enough about how the others build confidence in the Stevens angle to follow for that but nothing on this perspective other than he is a top candidate from you.

I am not sure. The show cause expires in June and he is only limited to off campus recruiting during that. With the portal, the off-campus recruiting before June is not an issue. The penalties associated with that would not be illegal now. Given the island (of being a bad basketball program) we have been on, it we miss on a few candidates and they feel he is unlikely to do something that would embaras the school, he should get consideration. I know @Uspshoosier or @Demohas some misgivings about him that go beyond the recruiting stuff but I have forgotten what those were. When considering candidates from the "shady background" or "comes with baggage" category I think I would take him over Beard based on the assumption his errors are less likely to be an issue going forward.
