They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
JSHoosier replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Hill naps during the game. Although if PSU is any indication so does Woodson. -
I'm not advocating for Shrewsberry, but atleast he'd be an active HC when hired. Yes, IU set the bar that low when hiring Woodson; let's not underestimate how stupid that move was.

I'm sure Hill will have great advice, as soon as he wakes up and remembers where he is. -
You need to watch that cussing.

Hiring a guy that hadn't been a head coach in almost a decade doesn't tell you we're super cereal? Makes perfect sense to me. It's genius in a way. How do you make sure no gets the coach before you want? Look at a coach that no one else would have any interest in. -
One channel I like on YouTube is Marty Schwartz or Marty's Music (same person, he switched channels). He does a lot of song tutorials but also gets into regular lessons some.

I think I'd take Schertz over May but not overly excited about either one. I'd probably call TJ Otzelberger before them, winning 68% of his games at Iowa State.

2026 General Recruiting Thread (Bball)

I'm not sure how many had sons that were high major caliber. Sean May ended up at UNC, and Bryce Alford played for Steve at UCLA. Kory Alford played for Steve but wasn't good. Brayton Bailey ended up at St. Francis. -
I'd like to see more of May, personally. How much of the last couple years is his coaching acumen and how much of it is getting lucky with a guard like Davis?
-
With his baggage I'm not surprised Beard isn't an option. Granted IU set the bar so low with Woodson that hiring an active head coach would be a step up.

After watching that craptastic performance drinking too much is completely understandable. -

Hendrix is definitely the best guitarist in history. I love Clapton but there different players, he's a more technical player while Hendrix played like it was an extension of himself. Both played Fender Stratocasters, a very versatile guitar with the right configuration, but Hendrix played a right handed instrument flipped over.

For the most part Crean did that, in his last 6 years he had 4 20 win seasons and 4 tourney appearances. He won 27 games and went to the Sweet 16 the year before he was fired. If that was all a coach did the fans would eventually turn, so in effect they're saying they want the fans to care just enough to show up and nothing more. -
She's worked with Bon Iver on a few songs I know of. I don't actively seek her stuff out but she is legitimately talented; and from what she's done for her Eras tour etc, seems to be a pretty good person.

Galloway had 1 good shooting year and Johnson is too inconsistent to be relied on even when healthy, the staff should've seen that. I like Galloway and I was saying I'd rather he come off the bench as 6th man. -
Alford is about the only IU guy that was qualified for this job, not that I wanted him. The way this program has been run, they'll say it needs to be a Knight and hire Pat.

The defense has gotten worse each year under Woodson too. -

He also calls out the lack of accountability. If the staff doesn't hold the senior leaders accountable, there won't be any between players. Of course, even though they're seniors they are not leaders. -

I read a quote a few years ago that you reminded me of it; 9 out of 10 teams cheat, the one that's not is in last place. -

Crean would get into desperation mode and offer/take anyone, especially the last few years. He did find some under the radar players though. -

Tommy Lloyd? Seems to have a good thing going at Arizona, but may as well reach out. Drew has done pretty well at Baylor, that'd be interesting. I'd like to see more of May, same as I said about Miller, but I could easily see someone making a move for him after this year. -

The odds of IU looking at Beard are less than zero, especially if Fitzgerald interviewed well for the football gig and Whitten put an end to that possibility.
