Woodson's style of play is decades behind where the NBA is. He's fixated on playing inside out but the NBA is guard oriented with multiple shooters stretching the floor. Dolson's taken aback by negative views of an awful coach? Woodson wasn't getting another head coaching job despite how the NBA recycles coaches, his last was in 2014 and there's a reason. We're seeing the problems that got him fired from the Knicks. Woodson was never a good choice, full stop. Not when Miller was hired and even less so after Miller was fired. No serious program would've even given him the slightest consideration. He was a great player 40 years ago, but that doesn't mean he was ever a good choice for coach.

That'd be an improvement, sadly. They seem to get obliterated drunk then make IUBB decisions.

If next season is even remotely decent they'll find an excuse to bring him back for year 5.

Yet he thinks Woodson is. I'm not sold May is but Ray Charles could see Woodson isn't.

I have more confidence in Pearl winning here than May, a lot more. He's proven he can win at the P5 level. Go with May and he fails, we're in this same spot in another 3-4 years.

That's the BS people will be saying if Woodson is brought back.

Regardless of the next two games, staying the course looks like next year would be rough.

Feeling let down about IUBB is one of the few constants over the last couple decades.

I can't say on that. I was just pointing out you don't use a proven P5 winner as a smoke screen for a mid major gamble, if anything you do the opposite.

You don't use Bruce Pearl as a smoke screen for Dusty May. Pearl is a proven P5 head coach, May isn't. That's setting people up for disappointment thinking you're finally going to swing big just to take the easy way out.

They hired Woodson because he played here 40 years ago. Let's not set the bar very high. With their holier than though crap they love to pull? Entirely predictable.

Absolutely not, Woodson never even should've been hired. An improvement from that is a low standard. There has to be someone that's shown more than May we could hire.

I'm not convinced May does get us back there. I had a 'believe it when I see it' Outlook on Pearl because he doesn't fit IU's holier than thou crap, but I'm sorry May would be a disappointing hire.

Note: a roster that needs rebuilt because of how badly Woodson has handled it.

I agree on the proven P5 part, except May isn't that. I really don't believe IU is in a place to make that kind of gamble

Unless that isn't true, could just be rumors. Trying to land Pearl does seem very out of character for how IU has been the last couple decades; and we know they'll stick with Woodson too long.

The way IUBB has been run the last 20 years, just getting a good coach would require an about face.
