That's not even an average if 3 years. That's allowed?
-
Pearl has won everywhere he's been and still speaks highly of the IU program. Give him Indiana's NIL etc for recruiting? Yes please. If he'd say yes you tell Woodson he's in Pearl's office.
-
Or they don't want to play on an offense as outdated as Woodson's and feed the post, and would rather go someplace with a modern offense that embraces the 3. Yeah, I'm sure it was being afraid of competing with someone as inconsistent as Xavier Johnson though.
-
Then you take the blackeye and fire him. He steered the ship into an iceberg, don't make the mistake of thinking he'll save it.

Stopped communicating. No class coming in after whiffing on Fland and Queen. Not going to win with Woodson. Antiquated offense that'll relegate him to a few shots and feeding the post. All things that are the fans' fault, obviously.

He needs a chance to right the ship. He steered into the iceberg but that's irrelevant. -

Allen was chosen without a real search. Then again Woodson's friends made sure he got it this time so I'm not sure that's any better. -
Woodson is in year 3 and doesn't even have a foundation because of how poorly he's done. He has absolutely no clue what it takes at this level, or knows and feels he doesn't have to, and at his age he probably won't change. A culture, no chance. Coaches have to earn stability, giving bad coaches more time just delays the inevitable; our problem is giving bad coaches too much time.
-
If he had this performance at UK he wouldn’t finish the season. We're nothing compared to how they would act; of course their admin cares enough to not let crap like this happen. They expect to win and do what it takes. You want to damage a program? Keep a bad coach too long so he can really make a mess of things. I'm sick and tired if hearing the fans, one of the few positives this program has had the last 20+ years, are the problem instead of crap coaches resulting from incompetent leadership.
-
Convince him to retire, whatever. Get rid of the problem now before he makes things worse. If they were that concerned about program image when it comes to firing him then they shouldn't have hired him to begin with, he was never a good choice and the odds of an ugly split were high. They made their bed.

I think the possibility of a smooth exit passed. They brought him back to protect his feelings since he got passed over when Miller was hired (hey, Glass actually did 1 thing right!), they'll use every excuse they can to keep him until he decides he's ready to retire. His ego will tell him he can fix it so he'll stick around. Kicking him to the curb now avoids him wrecking whatever is left of the program.
-
Woodson is why we would have to hit the reset button. He feels his mediocre NBA history means he doesn't have to do the work of actually recruiting. Just get rid of the problem now before his ego makes everything worse.

IU stupidly keeps Woodson, even though anyone with a single functioning brain cell would fire him. Only 2024 recruit decommitted

He'll just say they're not used to playing together and he has to get them over the hump. -

They would've been run out of town with pitchforks and torches, then their office would've been burned with said torches. -

Now for the ultimate kick in the balls. Watch Galloway transfer to Purdue and they go on to win a title while Woodson gets year 5 after missing the tournament. -

Mike Woodson to return as coach next season
JSHoosier replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Then bringing Woodson back was even dumber than his biggest critics say it was. One recruit isn't a good reason to bring a bad coach back and it was literally the only way to justify another year if this crap. -
Mike Woodson to return as coach next season
JSHoosier replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
"Loom what he had this year, nothing. No one could win with that he has to have year 5".- Buckner "He's the reason he had nothing"- anyone with eyes "I said year 5"- Buckner Woodson back for year 5- IU -
One more year! One more year! One more year! I'd call the administration a clown show but that'd be an insult to the clowns.
-
But the president of the Coach Mike Woodson fan club tells us it's all on the fans. Miss the easiest shot in the game? Because fans. Can't be bothered to box out? Fans. Current dumpster fire because of IU nepotism? Fans.

Hasn't carried over to IUBB. We're stuck with a guy the Knicks told to take a hike after just 3 years. -

Because Woodson didn't get the job, even though he never should've had it, when they first wanted him too. Now we have to keep him around because we didn't fire Miller when we should have. -

I am too. It was just absurdly stupid. There's no foundation, we're not doing well with HS recruits so we have to have an absolute monster of a portal haul; keep in mind this last portal season was a dud outside of Ware. He's said he believes college ball is played inside out and that the 3 isn't a point of emphasis for them, that's not a good sign considering the change needed. His Knicks teams had the same problems which isn't a good sign for his ability (or maybe willingness) to learn. He has friends in the right places and they wanted to protect him, that's it. It was about what was right for Woodson not the Indiana program.
