McDermott

Then they didn't do their job with MT....he should have been eliminated. Eliminated along with Brownell.
-
This is the same administration that hired Mike Woodson and gave him a 1m raise for what should've been bare minimum expectations. Then didn't fire him when they should have. Indiana has given no reason to think they won't screw this one up too.
-
If I was a donor and skeptical of the hire I wouldn't contribute as much; same reason I wouldn't have given a cent to NIL this year just to be burned, not confident it's a good investment.
-
Cignetti had a lot of experience at the high major level as a player and coach before becoming a head coach. He was on the staff for Saban that landed the Hightower/Jones class, he was also QB coach for NC State and recruited Philip Rivers. This is McCollum's only DI year ever.
-
Another crappy bball hire and Indiana might become a football school. So halfway there.
-
Well he did play college basketball.
-
Nah, just announce the hiring of Stevens and break the internet.
-
If Brownell gets hired this should be a lifetime ban.
-
It's Florida, where Chris said earlier some flights were headed.
-
The only way he should get 11m per is if it's to stay away.
-
Has to be Thomas. He's been a coach in college and pros and an executive, plus a former player.
-
I think there's only one person IU would give 11m per year to.
-
RTZ may have some connections but I think he's just having fun at this point.
-
I wouldn't complain about McDermott if they could get him away from Creighton.
-
I wish I could, after the last 25 years I could absolutely see it happening. I think there's no way IU is that stupid, then I remember they were the only place dumb enough to make Woodson a HC.
-
I can't believe I'm going to say something even remotely defensive of a hire as bad as Brownell, but the worst hire for that would be one of Thomas/Buckner/Wittman.
-
It'd 100% be a hire IU would make though.
-
You have more faith than I do. I have absolutely zero confidence IU can get it right. In the last 25 years the only legitimately good coach they've hired was Sampson, after him it'd be Crean and he had red flags at Marquette they should've seen. A crappy hire would be far less surprising than a good hire, they haven't given us a reason to be confident.
-
Brownell has won 53% of his conference games the last 15 years and made the tournament a whole 4 times. If they hire him then just shutdown the program and divert the funds to football and WBB.
-
That kind of time should be earned, not just given. Giving a crappy hire more time accomplishes nothing but removing the program further from relevancy. Giving bad coaches too much time isn't the answer.
-
The right coach can turn things around in pretty short order, especially with the transfer portal being what it is. If they need 9 years, then IU got it wrong again.
-
Brad Brownell, the candidate that would make us prefer Woodson. The basketball gods would be torturing us at that point.
-
I wouldn’t be particularly enthused with McCollum but I could see a possibility if I look hard enough, I also wouldn’t be the least bit shocked if we were here again in 4 years. I know we've been down but I would hope we could pick someone with more than 1 year old D1 experience in his entire career.

Without the buyout I'd take Cronin over McCollum every time, even if the ceiling is Crean level; he's not worth that buyout though.
