I don't even want the best every night. Just want to replace a couple of the heavily frosted cupcakes with a teams that are at least decent. I don't want a world beater non-conference schedule, I understand having some easy games on the schedule, I just want some of those gimme games replaced with ones that should be at least a bit of a challenge. Not a gauntlet, not freshly baked extra fluffy, somewhere in between.

JB2 signed @ 1130am on Thursday 11/14

Blackmon isn't that good, he'll be a disappointment just like his dad. Just ask UK fans, they'll tell you. -
Until these recent Sweet 16s their resumes were very similar. Now, I'm not saying Davis is as good as Crean. I at least have some faith that Crean can take us where we should all expect to be, while Mike Davis has no business coaching a high school girls JV team.

I don't really buy the confidence argument either. They make mistake after mistake after mistake but still dismantle South Saskatchewan Poly, the confidence gained won't make a bit of difference when they get their heads handed to them on a platter by MSU for the same mistakes they got away with before. They have to learn from their mistakes, and when it loaded down with South Saskatchewan Poly/Eastern Western A&M Tech/Random Joe U/Local Girl Scout Troop they can get away with things that won't work in B1G play. I'd definitely prefer if we removed one of the joke games and added a mid-major home/home. Replace another with someone like Kansas, we still have several cupcakes and the schedule is better preparation. Besides, we already have some extra fluffy cupcake called Purdue on the schedule so why add another?

I have no problem with a home/home. They have to go on the road in conference and a mid-major in non-conference would help IMO. I get it's about the money, as much as I hate it. People should just say it's about the money instead of trying to make up arguments for a weak schedule helping the team, which I do not buy in the least because they don't learn anything beating Random Joe U by 40 in AH despite turning the ball over 20 times.

He's a good recruiter, talent evaluator, and ambassador. He runs a clean program, and emphasizes academics. I think his weakness is in-game adjustments, and has a lot to prove in that regard and let's be honest we were comically unprepared for Syracuse last year.

Just a schedule with a couple of the big programs. Then substitute some of these BS schools with solid mid majors that should challenge the team but still result in a comfortable win. That's not going over the top with big programs. The team needs to learn. They learn from being challenged. By playing a ton of Betty Crocker's best the team only learns they can turn the ball over 19 times and still clobber a team that would lose to Purdue by double digits.
-
He didn't say "big programs", you made that leap. He said "better teams", and with at least 75% of our non-conference schedule it wouldn't take much to find "better teams". Wanting a better schedule than this prime example of a bakery's finest pastries doesn't mean a person wants to play all the 10 teams in the non-conference. I don't really buy the argument for getting their confidence up. Sure, they get their confidence up by pounding Eastern Western A&M Tech, then in turn they don't know how to respond to the challenges they will face in conference.

Oh, 3. How will we ever make it through that gauntlet?

Gotta so I'm so disappointed UK lost. I badly wanted them to win. Okay, I'm surprised I was even able to type that. We won, they lost, that's always going to be a good night.

15 reasons why college basketball is better than the NBA

Mentions NBA coaches being "ego managers", well that's what Cal is. -
Trent Richardson... Keeps getting worse

That is pretty good, but I've seen some funny ones. Tripping Olney has a pretty good feed. When Sox fans were complaining about that interference call in the WS, one of their fans tweeted an SI writer about why he didn't say anything about the runner being off the baseline and the writer replied "because I know the definition of baseline". It wasn't much, but I thought it was pretty good at the time. -

And if UK shot their normal percentage, we still lose that game. They were just better. Now if you'll excuse me I think I'm going to be sick to my stomach. -
Rapid Reaction LIU-Brooklyn vs. Indiana

I agree about Will not being an outside shooter. As a sophomore he shot nearly 40%, but now I'd rather he not take one. He was definitely too trigger happy in the first, though thankfully his shots started falling. -

Noah was big in the first half, but I have to credit Will. He stepped up in the second. -

That's actually not unusual. Sometimes you play a good game and just go up against a better team, ala us vs. pUKe a couple years ago. -
The petulant little sister is West Lala is never winning anything so it doesn't matter.

7/17 is 41%. It could be better, but it's not necessarily bad. Probably around average.

UW- 59 IU- 35 I'm giving our offense some credit with this, my gut says it won't even be that close. -
Thoughts on Creans coaching strategy this year?
JSHoosier replied to hoosierbb15's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Hulls was playing with an injured shoulder, and IIRC it came out that his shoulder was hurt worse than we were told. It just seems like every time we're in zone O all we do is pass the ball around the perimeter. Not really quick passes either, there's several times I see the D rotate and reset before they make a pass. I don't know why we don't have players flash to the middle, it forces the zone to matchup, I didn't see it often last year and even when it did happen we usually missed him. -

We could try flashing to the middle, that'd be an interesting change from just passing around the perimeter. -
This is why the new hand check rules will be bad for college basketball
JSHoosier replied to IUfan_Charlie's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
It's already been stated, but you'd get whistled for a flagrant. Will did the same thing against VCU and was called for it. -
It was not Will's second start. He started after Jones went down with an injury and played well.

Same thing happens with individual players. These new rules should bring the myth of Aaron Craft's outstanding defense to an end, but he'll probably get by on his reputation. -

That's what the NBA did, and it's unbearable to watch. I really don't give a crap what the casual fan wants. I watch a basketball game I want to see defense and fundamentals. Like I've said before, I'm fine with preventing teams like Wisconsin from basing defense on mugging but I do not want all the physicality removed from the game. I do not want the college game to become so offense centric that defense is an afterthought if it's thought about at all.
