I don't think that's what he wants, but that doesn't matter. For much of the fanbase today, and the students at IU now, Mike Woodson the player only exists in dusty old pictures. They only know Mike Woodson the coach, the nepotism hire, the guy no one else was wanted to be head coach because of how bad he was/is. The longer he's on the sidelines the more ruined his legacy will be, I don't think anyone wants that but it doesn't matter because the people that remember the player are aging out.

That's fine, but then bad hire after bad hire after bad hire says the process isn't working. After 25 years of being largely irrelevant, seems like someone needs to take a close look at the process.

Being good players doesn’t mean they're good coaches or can choose good coaches. Buckner was a terrible coach. Isiah Thomas was a great player and horrible coach and executive. Woodson is a lousy coach. That's not uncommon either, they weren't the first good players to be awful on the other side of things and certainly won't be the last.

Woodson is handling the burning it down part.

Yeah with an assistant that's focused on defense and even add a GM type role then I'd take Crean all day over Woodson. Woodson makes Crean look like Matt Painter in terms of coaching.

To be fair, Hill had some college coaching experience. He coached Columbia and was absolutely abysmal.

Yep. Some say his coaching exists but there's no real evidence.

Our pro coach didn't win in the pros either.

If a change still isn't on Dolson's radar after Mike Woodson has yet again shown bad bad he is at his job, then it just shows they really are not serious about the basketball program. We already knew that, nothing screams not serious like hiring a guy simply because he played there, but just further evidence that there are other very serious problems when it comes to IUBB.

Think of all the recruits we'd lose....oh, wait....nevermind.

Here's an idea. We tell Woodson no more cigars until he actually wins something. He'd either leave or get a clue on what he's doing.

Not counting Dakich as interim then IU has had 5 coaches since 2000 (Davis, Sampson, Crean, Miller, Woodson). Over 5 years per tenure, which is drug down by Sampson. Patience hasn't been a problem for IU. You'd almost have to try to be as bad at hiring coaches as IU has been.

Yeah, it's bad. Sampson was winning, and since the hires have been progressively worse. I didn't like the Miller hire but could at least see a possibility. Woodson was just an abysmal choice that should've never been considered.

Unreal season in his first year, hopefully he keeps building. Several key players are done after this year so hopefully between HS and transfer portal he can bring in some studs and hopefully improve the lines.
