People should prepare to be disappointed. The only legitimately good coach we've hired in the last quarter century was Sampson, and each one since has been progressively worse. Indiana has shown complete and utter incompetence at hiring basketball coaches, there's no reason to believe they'll get it right this time. It's kind of impressive how awful they've been at hiring, you'd almost have to try to be that bad.

Unfortunately he's the best coach of the ones that actually went to IU; remember that competition includes savants like Buckner, Wittman, Woodson and Thomas.

To be fair, he took some responsibility after losing to Michigan. Might be the only time since he's been here but he did.

Does it matter? He's partially responsible for the Woodson error and helped protect him, I'm not confident he'll act in good faith.

Pearl would be a great hire, but IU isn’t giving that to Bruce Pearl and have to make his son coach in waiting.

If I were to guess I'd say there's only one person IU would pony up that kind of money for.

I sincerely hope he's full if it. The least disappointing name on that list is Cronin and he's not worth the 16m to buyout his contract. That list ranges from "disappointing" to "we'll probably be looking again in a few years".

Some people seem to be getting their hopes up on Stevens. I get it, that's a hire that sends shockwaves through the sport and fear through the fanbases that want IU to stay down. He's got one heck of a gig right now and new owners could offer minority interest, IU couldn't match that.

I'd love to have Stevens, although I do get the concern some have about him being out of coaching currently. I don't blame him for taking a promotion though. As I've said though, we've been down this road before so I'll believe it when I see it.

Sleepy Hill is the only person Woodson listens too though.

Maybe if he thought he'd have a better chance at a title with IU's NIL. I never said it was likely.

IU should know, someone needs to be on payroll to prop up Hill so he doesn't fall out of his napping chair during the game.

If Few was actually interested he'd immediately be 2 on my list, and I could convince myself to put him 1. He's older but would have this program in good shape for the next 10 years or so.

May wouldn't be my 2nd or maybe even 3rd choice. I wasn't particularly excited about him last time, today didn't change that.
