You can't fire Mike Woodson, Mike Woodson is retiring.

The more I think about it, I would've given him an assurance. "I assure you there will not be a year 5"

That's not any better and doesn't change my point. If anything it's worse, wanting assurances after this fiasco and last season's train wreck he'd have to be completely out of his mind.

"I'm getting year 5 right?" "Did someone replace your cigars with those funny cigarettes?"

If the rumored Stevens money is available for others then we'd better be aiming higher than Mick Cronin. And I did not see someone suggest Steve Alford. He might the be best coach of guys that played at IU but that is a pretty low bar to clear.

If IU saw this debacle of a season and needed to wait until the end to decide, then they're beyond incompetent. If what she said is true about Woodson asking about year 5 he should just be glad he didn't get laughed out of the state; no one else would've even given him an interview for the job, much less 4 years to show he's clueless.

People were confident on Stevens last time too, then he publicly stated he has no interest. It's not happening. Even if the new owners wanted to go in a different direction another NBA franchise would scoop him up.

We can try but Stevens isn't walking through that door. I'd love to be wrong; IU needs a grand slam hire, they cannot keep whiffing. Not many hires would say "we're done screwing around" quite like that. I don't see May leaving Michigan after one year, and I wouldn’t be enthused with that hire anyway. If the alleged Stevens money was available for other coaches that might make it easier to hit this one out.

Stevens isn't coming either and a lot voted yes on him. Whether you'd approve and whether they're coming are two completely different things.

He's turned it down before. Plus he left college to coach the Celtics then he chose to leave coaching to join the front office. Doesn't seem like he really wants to be a coach anymore.

May as well offer him the McDuck vault when Stevens says no.

Yeah, Saban publicly said he won't be the Alabama coach. Not going from pro to college, but Calipari said Memphis is where he wanted to be before going to pUKe.

IU has had plenty of practice the last 25 years, apparently practice doesn't always make perfect because here we are again.

Probably too busy trying to rationalize Woodson's "retirement" with saying moving on isn't on the radar and saying it'll be evaluated at the end of the year.

Kind of weird but best non-Sampson coach we've had in the last 25 years. That's a depressing list.

Some on this board talked about him and Carlyle being shooters. They are good shooters if you ignore all the ones they miss.

Doesn't really sound like someone with too much desire to get back into coaching.
