Not much worse than the last 8 years.
-
Being forced to watch the last 8 years would 100% be a violation of the Geneva Conventions.
-
Ok, I checked and Goodman said Stevens told Field of 68 he wasn't a candidate and Goodman founded Field of 68. Although the only quote from Stevens he gave didn't actually use those words.
-
Goodman's tweet said it was from a source IIRC.
-
You do remember this is IU we're talking about, right? That's pretty much status quo anymore.
-
Except Woodson was never going to do that because he's a lousy coach. He'd already shown that before IU hired him.
-
I'd take year 5 of Woodson over either. Yes, I just typed that and yes I think I'm going to be sick.
-
The last 25 years should've taught us not to underestimate IU's ability to IU. And no I don't think Brownell is actually a candidate, but someone equally disappointing wouldn't be surprising.
-
After the last 25 years I'm pretty sure the basketball gods abandoned us.
-
I'd be good with it except for supposedly wanting his son to be coach in waiting.
-
Replacing Woodson with Brownell would be very much in line with the last quarter century of IUBB. Then doing this again in 4 years because they never learn.
-
It'd be a splash, in a toilet bowl.
-
I'd hope not, but he gave Woodson a 1m raise for what should be bare minimum expectations.
-
Ugh
-
If he ends up the coach, and we should all take the believe it when it happens stance because IMO the odds are slim, he wouldn't be the first to say something like that then take the job.
-
He was a coach in 2021, easier to not be around media now.
-
There was a screenshot of a text exchange several pages back, from another board I believe, that was supposedly from Goodman someone told him that Stevens told them he wasn't a candidate. So 3rd hand if the exchange was even real.
-
Possible PR speak to avoid distractions, ala Calipari or Saban, because he still has a job to do. I'm NOT saying that's what it is. If you want to keep something quiet, keep the circle small and deny it to anyone doesn't need to know. It's what I'd do in this situation. You can't really control what those in the know say or who they say it to but you could ask them to do the same. I think it was ap who said Dolson is using smokescreens, maybe the insiders here actually heard what they shared but they themselves were given a smokescreen. I'm not saying any of that is what's happening, just spitballing.

IsaacTor is new to the board, but Chris, Jerry, and ap have provided good information before and enough times that people listen when they share. That doesn't mean they're always right or that their info is in anyway infallible. Whether you choose to believe them is up to you. I get why people would get excited about the thought of landing Stevens, and let's face it it's not surprising his name would come in when Indiana needs a coach he's as big of a white whale as it gets for us. I've repeatedly said in this thread it won't happen and that I'd believe it when I saw it. I'm not a big tinfoil hat guy, the simple answer is many times the right one. However that statement Goodman put out from Stevens is a very very weak denial and unless he left parts out doesn't say not a candidate. IF if it happened, a whale sized if, then it wouldn't be the first time a coach said something like that and then left shortly after; remember Caliapri said Memphis is where he wanted to be then left to UK, Saban point blank said he won't be the coach at Alabama, etc.
-
We're coming off the worst coach we've had in the last 25 years, low bar. I'd personally prefer the bar be set higher than "not Mike Woodson".
-
Well it went from verbal agreement and having a guarantee to not a candidate pretty quick.
-
If it happens Isaac would have established some cred here, that's for sure.
-
If he used docusign it wouldn't take very long at all, so it's not like he'd be taking much time from All Star game events.
-
Maybe but the post about an attorney saying they've agreed to a contract doesn't pass the smell test to me.
-
To be fair, ap followed up and said Stevens has multiple agents.
