Pfft, next you're going to tell me not to get news from Facebook.
-
I was thinking the same. I guess I could see the coach having a list of people he'd like for the roles then Dolson (maybe even the search firm?) going from there. Even then I'd have a hard time seeing a staff being put together without word getting out, too many people involved to have control over the flow of information. Heck even if there was an agreement with a new coach it'd be a pretty good hush job to keep it from leaking.
-
Maybe just me but I wouldn't say that unless their was an agreement on terms at the least and I'd be hesitant to do that without a signature. If it was just that they have a guy they feel good about I wouldn't say they got their guy.
-
If Sterling is right that IU has their guy, I'd think it's someone that isn't currently coaching. I'd have a hard time seeing a current coach agreeing to terms (or signing) with a new program when they're getting geared up for March; any contact would just be through agents and reps right now I'd think.

Any combination that has Turgeon as coach isn't crazy, it's certifiably insane. Please get fitted for a straight jacket at your earliest convenience.

If we're visiting another part of the multiverse let's go to the one where we kicked Crean to the curb for Stevens.
-
Cronin would likely have a Crean-esque ceiling but with more consistency; Crean wasn't particularly consistent even at Marquette. Better than the last 8 years, low standard, but not worth the 16m buyout plus the contract he'd get.
-
He sleeps. A lot.

It's a 16mil buyout until April 1.

They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
JSHoosier replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I agree that IU tends to have a holier than thou mindset, but when UK and UL won't touch you then your issues are downright toxic. -
If IU hired Brownell then they would just be telling us they have no intention of ever actually trying to bring this program back.
-
It's bad when those two programs won't touch you.
-
Buckner flew to do a job for the Pacers on IU's dime so there was no need for Woodson to suddenly pretend to care about recruiting.
-
Only one year if D1 experience, it's not a risk that IU can afford to take.
-
Before it was 5m plus the signing bonus, so around 1m or so more.
-
Still might be better than Woodson.
-
I thought that after Miller. I didn't expect them to be so stupid as to hire Woodson; anyone with two functioning brain cells could tell that was an awful hire. IU has given no reason to make us believe they'll get this one right.
-
We'd be back here in 4 years, so bright side?
-
You know it's coming. We followed Miller up by saying "hold my beer" and hiring someone off the WTF list.
-
You need to watch that cussing. People have had their mouth washed out with soap for saying things less harsh.
-
Woodson is a lousy coach and his buddies cost us May.
-
Easiest answer is that IU screwed up because they refuse to move on from crappy coaches when they should. History says prepare for a disappointing hire and being back here in 4 years.
-
I didn't really buy the idea that May went to Michigan while waiting for IU. If he was waiting for IU he could've stayed at FAU for another year. IU missed the boat because they insist on giving bad coaches too long.
