The 6-foot-5 post was previously committed to Xavier. With the signing of Noveroske, the Hoosiers now have three Indiana All-Stars as part of the 2019 class, including joining Warren Central point guard Shaila Beeler and Bedford North Lawrence forward Jorie Allen. Vincennes Rivet guard Grace Waggoner, originally committed to Evansville, is also slated to join IU as a preferred walk-on. Noveroske suffered an ACL injury her junior year, a day after she accepted Xavier’s scholarship offer. The injury cut into her senior season of volleyball, but Noveroske didn’t miss a beat on the basketball court. She averaged 21.9 points, 12.2 rebounds, and 5.5 blocks per game for a 20-5 Michigan City squad. Brian Neal stepped down as Xavier’s women’s basketball coach in March, which opened the door for the Hoosiers. A second chance at Noveroske was fortuitous, especially with Kym Royster’s graduation and sophomore Linsey Marchese decision to transfer. Now the Hoosiers should have multiple freshman posts vying for minutes in 2018-19. Mackenzie Holmes, the player of the year in Maine, produced 30.1 points, 16.7 rebounds, and 3.9 blocks per contest for Gorham High. Arielle Wisne, from Thornton, Colo., projects more as a project (6.2 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 1.8 bpg). However things shake out in the front court, the roster as a whole is starting to take on more of an in-state flavor. IU coach Teri Moren has long stated a desire to get the state’s recruits in cream and crimson. With the addition of 2015 Miss Basketball Ali Patberg as a transfer two years ago, and the addition of four in-state freshmen in 2019, the Hoosiers have built some momentum in that regard. Beeler, Allen, Waggoner, and Noveroske have all play AAU basketball for the Indy Lady Gym Rats program, which is headed up by James Banks. He is the father of IU assistant Janese Constantine.
