TOM CREAN FIRED
Be hypothetical with me for a quick second. What does this board, and the overall outlook on IU basketball look like if Jordan Morgan's tip goes in? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
One of the few defense for Crean gets knocked down a peg, and calls for firing are even more intense. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

    TOM CREAN FIRED

I love when people mistake athleticism for "talent." I feel as though we're headed towards being 2013-14 Ohio State. That team is just a more experienced version of us, and I don't want that to be this group of guys' ceiling. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

No one will ever be good enough for Indiana unless his name is Bob Knight. At least that's what I can gather. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

    TOM CREAN FIRED
Personally, I've never been a fan of Crean. I honestly didn't like the hire when we made it and he was our 3rd/ 4th option from what I've been told. He had Dwayne Wade, Got his Final Four and that pretty much sums him up. Given the position we were in, he has turned out to be an INCREDIBLE hire for Indiana. Now that the rebuilding efforts are over, it's time for Indiana to keep winning. We just don't seem to be doing that right now. Therefore, I'm NOT on the Fire Tom Crean train yet because I don't think he deserves to be fired for what he's done at IU. I view Indiana Basketball for what it is... not elite. Hate to say it, but back to back Sweet 16s might not be that low of a bar like we originally thought. It's been 27 years since we've won a championship. This is rambling, and I don't really know where my head is at right now. lol
I agree with all of this. Depending on how next year turns out, I'm not scheduled to board the train until next March or April. I don't think it's right to fire him this year, just one year removed from a second consecutive Sweet 16 (which hasn't been done since the 90s I believe) and a Big Ten regular season title. Scouting a potential Crean replacement

What has Shaka done besides a final four, which I think was a little fluky, and winning against inferior competition. I'm surprised some would even consider a coach that managed to lose to Tom Crean in the NCAA Tournament. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Penn State @ IU Post Game Thread
:), I wish I was wrong though, just had a gut feeling (and the fact that we've done it twice in 3 games).
I think we all felt it coming. This team is so frustrating. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Penn State @ IU Post Game Thread

On CTC: Crean was the perfect rah-rah, cheerleader type coach to guide Indiana through the pits of college basketball hell. Is he the perfect coach to lead Indiana to the top of the college basketball mountain? I don't know, but probably not. I'm willing to give him next season, however, but will not accept another season like this. On Noah Vonleh: Yes, it's unacceptable he doesn't get a lot of shots. That's on him and the coaches. Noah is not very good on offense. He's pretty bad at getting position, has one poor post move, and gets pushed around. That's why I think Crean was talking about getting him the ball on the perimeter earlier this week. Coaches need to help him improve his post game though, and he needs a lot of help. Anything he scores is a result of his toughness and just being bigger than basically everyone. If he can learn and develop into a better offensive player, he'll be scary good. On seniors: Fifth year senior played at Arizona State and Liberty (I think that's right) before for a reason. Fourth year senior was a sixth man for a reason. Both leave a bit to be desired. On tonight: It sucked, and Charlie called the choke. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I think he'll become a nice four-year player for us, but he's a liability on the court right now in my opinion. He'll be a fan favorite at some point I believe, however. Jeremy Hollowell Trending

I do watch the games. I also remember watching Remy Abell, and I'm fine without him. Let's not act like he's some awesome player and would fix everything. He has limitations and is better suited outside the Big Ten. He'd be a back up point guard here for a reason. And yes, I develop my opinions that generalize a fan base from twitter. Any tweets that spoke of missing Remy ended the when Stan Robinson healed up and started playing. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

    Jeremy Hollowell Trending
It may be old news nonetheless, we have major issues at backup point and it was Crean who took his scholly and gave to someone else. The rules he broke didn't make the news as far as I know yet were big enough to warrant expulsion? All the while you have kids at most every other program make the papers and only get game suspensions. I'm sure Crean misses him now, although I think he made his decision thinking he woukdnt. Roth and Creek also come to mind when a coach doesn't value what these players do best and thinks the next new shiny oversign will make the difference. Crean also complains daily to media about being so young just like many of our alumni and fans, yet two of the three mentioned above have eligibility.
No one misses Remy Abell, at least from what I have seen on twitter and what not. Jeremy Hollowell Trending
I think Jeremy is as talented as any but two others on this team, and I hope he continues to improve and play well. Crean may have expected too much too early so his struggles relate to this. My example is his handling of the ball early in the year when he was not ready for it. Coach forcing him into a role of back up point guard because of his decision to run off option #2 clearly cannot be blamed on Hollowell. You put your players in a position to succeed and this is where Crean has failed miserably as it relates to Hollowell and many others on our team. Making Yogi juke for most of his field goal attempts and few set plays for him and Noah are other examples. You play to your teams strengths which change every year vs. running the three man weave from day one with little to limited sucess not counting last year. Personnel decides how you want to play unless you are John Wooden where you reload with similar blue chip players. Look at 1981 Isiah Thomas and Mr. Motion Bobby Knight. Great coaches teach a philosophy but also understand winning is the ultimate goal.
Hollowell should be so much better than he is, but he just wasn't "ready" this season. I think Crean's expectations were bloated after seeing the roster, but fair. Exactly who did Crean run off? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  16.
I agree. He needs to be 2nd to Yogi at least. Who actually is 2nd? Will? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
Yes, but Noah is closing in on second. Yogi leads by about 130 I think. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  17.
He is shooting 57.9% from downtown and his stroke has been buttery smooth so I really don't see why anyone would have such a big issue with getting him more looks from the perimeter when teams have been suffocating our half-court offense to death by packing it in.
Noah has made just five less 3s than Will Sheehey, while attempting 42 less. I am more than fine with him shooting more and getting the ball more on the perimeter. I hope most agree. 18.
I'd like a bigger sample size in the post. He has a gorgeous hook shot (both hands) and he's pretty powerful. Definitely could use some work, but we just haven't seen much of it. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
Just watching him, I think at this point in time he can get pushed around a bit and isn't a great finisher. I may just be overreacting or using selective memory though. I think Noah Vonleh should be used more inside and out, and don't think there's any excuse for him to have the third most shot attempts on the team. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  20. Noah Vonleh leaves a bit to be desired in the post. Getting more touches on the perimeter may be his best shot at scoring if he doesn't shoot 10+ FTs in a game. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

    Noah Vonleh Draftexpress breakdown

Sitting the bench will only delay his development into a possible star. It would do him more good to practice and play in the B1G than sitting in the NBA next year. Right now, he's all potential and rebounding and needs more time before even entering the pro ranks. And unless you're a can't miss star, which Vonleh is not, the more college the better.

    Noah Vonleh Draftexpress breakdown

He really does not need to leave this year. He has a lot to work on and polish, and another year of college ball would do him a tremendous amount of good. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  24.
If Vonleh leaves, we won't be "really really good". We'll have no post player aside from Hanner. Even with Vonleh we may not be "really really good" because we'll have no depth behind him, aside from Hanner.
Trust me, I know. It could be really really good. Not likely, but it could. I guess you could say that about a lot of teams though. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
