Wait til you get a load and I mean a load of Darius Wabbington. 27' class is loaded in state. The Fishers guards. Ben Ly from Brebeuf will be a star in two years. -

Mullins= Ray Allen -
(2025)- Trent Sisley to INDIANA

If we return Carlyle, Tucker, Rice and Reneau he would be a great compliment to Tucker. He can defend at a high level on the perimeter. -
(2025) - (C) Malachi Moreno to Kentucky
BA47591 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
It will be interesting to see what we look like going into 25-26. Moreno next to an elite PF and dynamic perimeter players would have a really impactful freshman year. -
(2025) - PF Caleb WILSON to North Carolina

I prefer Wilson over Tiller. There's no worries about his motor. He can defend on the perimeter. -

+1 for Mr.Bozich and Jim "Champ Kinds" Coyle. WHHHHAAAMMMMY! Brady Koehler has won me over. Can we get him too? -
(2025) - G Meleek Thomas to Arkansas
BA47591 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Good take. I think there's a world where Rice could be a late 1st rounder after this upcoming season. -
I have a strong reasonably educated hunch that OTE offered about twice what Purdue's NIL deal was for him to go with the professional side of their program, and he wanted Painter to get close to that figure and he wouldn't. When he signed he was 6'6" 175 lbs. OTE listed him this year at 6'9" 215. Probably a slight exaggeration but if he'd agree to the two year Tucker plan for professional readiness, IU would come up with necessary funds. I would ask he reads the Matt and Ryan Bewley story before he does anything further with OTE though. It would make Woody look like genius if we would pull this off. Lol,

Assuming it's a 4-5 class, what's your guess? -
(2025) - PG Mikel Brown, Jr. to Louisville

Haralson (Woody) Thomas(Hunter) Brown(Rosemond) Who's most likely to bring home their guy. Each one could push the 1mil asking price. -

Hey partner, how much of Thomas have you seen in person? I've seen him once and the skills are off the charts. He's a text book combo guard and could easily duplicate a JHS type of performance at the point for us. However, I didn't care much for the attitude he displayed on and off the court. I know he can co-exist with talent. Brandin Cummings was a senior this past year at Lincoln Park and they had tremendous chemistry sharing the point. I believe Kenya Hunter can land this young man. I don't think it will impede our Mullins situation either. What are your thoughts? -
(2026) - Anthony Thompson
BA47591 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Mgbako>Tucker>Haralson>Thompson>Mitchell...apprentice for a year, start as a sophomore and be a 1st rounder after 2 years. That's a great sales pitch. -

I'm certain my facts are straight. I coached in S. Indiana and Central/Southwest Ohio for a couple of decades. I know Walsh from his grad assistant days with Archie at Dayton and he's a nice fella but was no way in hell ready for the job he has. The college assistant coach gig is cutthroat. A head coach usually has a handful of prospects they personally recruit and they take rookie assistants with them to show them the ropes and get them a couple credits to get started. Power programs don't do this because they don't hire rookie assistants without established recruiting portfolios. I can go back to the forming of this staff and Woodys temper tantrum over Fife and not listening to Matta standing there with a list of potential hires. The only way a head coach ever takes on a predecessors losing staff is in an interim capacity. But to quote Thad Matta, "Woodys gonna do it Woodys way." So we have a monumental amount of pressure on a coach to deliver on instate recruiting success in the hands of an undertrained assistant that's 3 yr credit sheet has Gabe Cupps and one that jumped off the hook. Cupps is unofficially Hulls guy as is Mullins. -

I'd like to see a 25' group of Moreno, Caleb Wilson, Trey McKenney, Mullins and Mikel Brown play together. I think you cover all the bases with that. The 26' group I like Anthony Thompson and Manny Green. Luke Ertel is my favorite in-state kid, probably because I've watched him the most. 27' will be be the best in-state class in a decade but Mitchell and Kenny Lampley are the 2 must haves right now. Imo. I'll mention one name to look out for in 27'. I doubt we'll get involved but Darius Wabbington is terrific. 6'10 235 and plays like he's 20. Phoenix Sunnyslope High School. -
(2025) - SG Trey McKenney to Michigan
BA47591 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I think Michigan keeps him in-state with a darkhorse being Georgetown. Walsh is the primary on his recruitment. He would be great in the Conwell role in a Josh Schertz offense. If any two players should be a package deal it should be Acuff and McKenney. -

Brian Walsh had zero recruiting experience, then Fife was fired and everyone got bumped up. He has never signed anyone. It's honestly insane to have your home state recruiting being handled ojt. I think Mullins will sign, but Hulls has used almost all of his allotted time on him. I hope we get all 3 but the odds are against you brother. -

I think we end up with Tiller, Harrelson, Mullins a transfer starting Center and someone of the Luke Goode persuasion next year. Reneau will return, Mgbako NBA, and we'll leave a scholarship open. Moreno to KY, Sisley to Purdue, Acuff and McKenney to Michigan, Thomas to Arkansas -
(2025) - PG Jalen Haralson to Notre Dame
BA47591 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Assuming we go with 12 again and we lose the 5 seniors and Mgbako. Reneau,Tucker, Carlyle, Rice with Newton and Cupps. Moreno, Tiller, Sisley, Mullins, Harrelson and another portal big would be a nice mix of multiple year guys, versatility and immediate impact. -
(2025)-PF Bryson Tiller to Kansas

Andre Patterson..... Caleb Wilson is more aggressive, but needs to fill out still. -
(2025) PG Chance Mallory to Virginia

For Woody to offer a little guard he must be uniquely skilled. -

At some point Universities will have their own sports academies for Jr and Sr high school kids It will blur the lines of NIL and scholarships. It's going to be just like the European model. I'm not so sure I disagree with it. Right now my Hoosier Prep Academy would have this young man and Sanderson from the '26 class locked up.
