I think, due to schedule we may struggle to replicate this year's performance next season. I thought it would take 3 years to get to the playoffs, without knowing Coach Cigs approach to recruiting or the portal. I think we're going to get bigger, stronger, faster. That will make the difference.

We will have to have a strong face of the program, a high level tactician as an assistant and someone that can recruit the region. Al Huss checks alot of those boxes himself. I think Sherron Wkerson would make a dynamite #3 in the Walsh slot. I do look to see us have an official GM named in the off season.

I'm all in on the offensive end with McCollum. The defensive end,,,I thought I caught some Archie concepts. I could be wrong. I'm torn. I love watching that offense. Chris Beard or Ben McCollum????.

I think IU in 3 years. Our next coach will attack the 2027 in-state class and that group is better than 2025.

It's almost impossible to look forward to this. Does anyone remember the Muppet Show and the 2 old men in the balcony? I'm turning into that. There's a ton of really good basketball on TV this year. We aren't any of it. I saw Syracuse for a bit and they have the same scenario there. Chris Beard/Ben McCollum, flip a coin.

Granted it was due to foul trouble, but our first half rotations were great. You could take that and dial back some poor shot selection and we'd out talent our way to 12-13 conference wins. But the second half he went to Goode Mgbako and then just kept piling on with terrible defensive combinations. Goode Mgbako is actually worse than playing Ballo and Reneau together. At least with B&R you can pit 3 guards around them and defend a bit. 10 and 10 is probably what we're looking at. This is the single biggest waste of talent I've seen in my 53 years of living. You could see what would work if emphasized and built around for about 15 minutes in the first half. Yet you do nothing to go back to it.

Other than some of the shot selection from Carlyle and maybe 1 quick trigger from Tucker, I couldn't be happier. 16 minutes alternating bigs. Goode at the 4 and several minutes of 3 guard offense. We should start 4 seniors and a freshman the second half and alternate the bigs at every media timeout. Let Mgbako back up Goode and see if he wakes up and work Rice and Carlyle in for 10 minutes a piece. Woody found something with his rotations. Shots will fall if he stays with it.

There's a maturity issue with Reneau that has gotten better but still questionable. I challenge anyone to listen to Mgbako speak and tell me that he is quick processing anything. He's to stiff and upright to be a good defender on the perimeter. Goode will never be a good defender but he tries. It's why I've said you can't have him and Mgbako on the floor together nor can you have Reneau and Ballo together for more than 5 mpg. Not against good teams.

Brother I admire you and your work putting this information out. I appreciate it. Under the circumstances we're at best crossing our fingers to get players the next coach will want to keep.

We obviously have the players to have 2 separate styles of play. We have two 5's one that is excellent in half court low block old school half court pound it in basketball and the other that can get up and down and pass the ball out of the high post. You can't play defense with Goode and Mgbako on the floor together so which one makes more sense to pair with Reneau? I say Goode is the better half court player so put Mgbako with Reneau and Goode with Ballo. Play Rice at the point with Mgbako and Reneau, The Gambler at the point with Goode and Ballo. Tucker, Leal, Carlyle, Newton.....mix in with both groups. I'm talking about two 3 guard offenses that can defend. We could successfully do this when most teams only have one way to play. With the size of our guards I wouldn't be adverse to trying 4 guard line-ups around either of our bigs. We need to win 12 conference games and at least 1 in the BTT to make the tournament. Until I see Woody start something that splits the bigs and Mgbako/Goode I have zero faith we can get that done.

It's time to start sending letters and emails to Scott Dolson and Pete Yonkman. We need a break as a fan base. We've had a snowballing case of collective ptsd for a 1/4 century. I'm tired of looking at rosters, line-ups and game plans and knowing they won't work before the game starts. I know you are too. I just returned from a wonderful Mass. Side note, my Priest looks identical to Pat Kelsey. I made my monthly confession and feel great. So in the spirit of the original intent of this post I'd like to say, Woody wants the same things we do and more so wants to be the person to make that happen. He does however lack the ability to make it happen and goes about his business in a way that is insulting to those of us raised on The Bob Knight show. We were taught every Sunday by a master in his craft what winning, or at least what the pursuit of winning looks like. Brothers and sisters, I hope in this holiday season you have peace in your hearts.

I've been saying this since before the season started. Have to play defense on the perimeter and you have to split the bigs and you can't play Mgbako and Goode together if you plan on defending the perimeter. I'm happy to see that. Either big with Goode, Tucker, Leal and Galloway or Rice would be what I'd go with next game. Mgbako,,,I've bounced back and forth on. Is he lazy or dumber than a box of hair? It's probably both.
