    Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Two words: Mike Woodson. His style is antiquated, his delivery is abrasive, his humility is non-existent, his understanding of how to build a roster simply stupid. He's incompetent, cannot read a room (or chooses not to), he is divisive, and he's protected by Buckner. That protection makes every other negative characteristic moot, as there are no consequences for any of his actions. He has offered a reported 31 players, but hasn't bothered to build relationships with any of them, their families or their coaches. He's someone that no one wants to play for, unless they are paid obscene amounts of money. I don't see the portal approach being much different. The key is the Cook's and the Simons' open checkbooks.

"Pass" is the operative word, as in "give Mediocre Mike a pass".

Paid propaganda. We're being punked, big time.

Yep. Knight's epic quote about Dale Brown applies to Woodson in spades. Woodson can't coach his way out of a parking lot with a personal driver.

Curious how you calculated these percentages, understanding that 63.8% of all statistics are made up on the fly. :D

Indiana Players Now In The Portal

Absolutely. And if it's a B1G team, Banks is the kind of kid that can come back and torch us for 25.

I was being sarcastic. (thus the "/s") The real kicker is those schools will use their money to supplement recruiting. Woodson will use it to buy a team instead of recruiting. There's a huge difference between 1-2 players via the portal and 5-7 players. Woodson's way also comes with built-in excuses - new team, young team, still getting to know one another and a whole new hump to get over.

Yeah, IU is probably the only school in P5 with $6M in NIL. /s

If Woodson does land a top tier PG, Cupps will probably be benched. Of course if Woodson strikes out, the Cupps is "the man". Let's see how this plays out. It begs the question: is he a competitor who wants to play, or does he want to cash a check?

Clearly, you underestimate our coach's abilities.

i'm beginning to think that we fans aren't the toxic ones around the basketball program.

IF he does that, he won't have any money left for the rest of the spots on the team. He's handing cash out like Oprah at Christmas.

Yeah, the "not enough talent" thing sticks in my craw. He had THREE 5-stars and more "stars" than anyone in the B1G conference. Maybe if he tried a more current scheme he'd have a chance. Or, just be stubborn and keep losing.

Great. That's one more thing that Woodson will be blindsided by.

I'd guess all three go to a mid-major for far less money that they're getting here. Of course, I'd also suspect that Woodson is using low-ball NIL to "crean" a few guys.

No, INDIANA could, but Woodson could not. He was too busy doing his job.

Haha. Figuring out IF or HOW they fit together will be another train wreck. Frankly, this whole approach Is just wrong. The fact that Woodson is here is wrong, and throwing $6M out the window to see who comes running is also just wrong. In fact, the whole thing sickens me. But, yeah, Mike, you do you. What a self-absorbed pr!ck.

Any more on Cupps staying/going? There was some talk as the season was winding down that he was going to the portal, but haven't heard anything since.

So if we get a "big guy" named "Small", will Woodson's head explode?

The GM role will fail epically. One of two types of people will be hired for that job: 1. A Woodson guy. This would be a Wittman, Zeke, Kitchel, Grunwald type who would tell Woodson exactly what he wants to hear 2. A true GM type. This is the person that Woodson will completely ignore from day one.

It needs to come crashing down quickly. The courts have clipped the NCAA's wings with NIL thanks to the Virginia and Tennessee suits, and it appears that the NCAA has backed away and made it an actual free-for-all, anything goes situation. If college athletics isn't already destroyed beyond fixing, it will be shortly.

Agree. And I'd suggest that if they know player A is getting $500K, they expect player A to put out $500K-worth of effort. The fans know when players are going through the motions and when they are leaving it all on the floor, and knowing what a player is making (or at least having a good idea of the pay range) will dictate how harshly a player is judged by the fans.

Maybe Woodson wanted that last $100K for cigars and wine.
