Got a few boos when they announced Mike Woodson as the coach... -

Even though that's a HUGE positive thought, you can't post that in the Positive Only thread. I'm confused, do they want positivity there or not? -

I'm thinking Dolson used to have balls. Now Quinn has them in a jar on his desk. -

Actually, Ringo was the "replacement drummer". Pete Best was the first drummer (1960-62). -

Yeah, I saw that info later in this thread and after I posed the question. Money talks. -

If Scott truly "admires Woody", then we're all screwed. Woodson has done nothing in 40+ years anywhere on the planet to warrant "admiration". He just hasn't. And IMO, his 40 year removed playing career is becoming more and more tarnished every day, at least in my eyes. -

Perhaps. I mean, I understand the concept. But with godfather Quinn, do you really think that Woodson fears or respects or even cares Dolson and what he might say? -

Sincere question: Woodson was a pr*ck at Senior Day. His comments were vitriolic and snarky. But I truly wonder how real comments from Leal and Gallo were. By that I mean, is there any chance that Woodson whipped them up into those "pro-woody" speaches? It just seemed to me that there was a lot of overlap in both the words and the tones of their respective speeches. Maybe I'm just too suspicions, but given what's been going on with Buckner excusing his friend's laziness and lack of true effort, I have to wonder. -

I don't need to wait for any season to start to know that Woodson is "full of it and doesn't give a crap". I got that right now, in spades. -

Do you really think that Woodson would sit through that? He told a reporter "I'm not going to sit here and answer that question from you or the fans". I suspect he won't answer many "probing" questions from Dolson, either. He will stonewall, while wearing his teflon suit, and have Quinn on speed dial to get him out of any difficult conversations. -

Absolutely. This is more evidence of Woodson's ego and sense of his own self-importance. He cannot be bothered to do a solid for anyone who cannot return the gesture. The term my kids use is "a legend in his own mind". -

But did Archie trigger Buckner because he was Archie or because he got the job that Buckner thought was promised to Woodson? That's the real problem with this kind of corruption. Buckner can get triggered or enraged or butt-hurt or whatever you want to call it, but it's because his buddy got overlooked in favor of the flavor of the month. Buckner has no leg to stand on with regard to who the men's basketball coach at Indiana is. It's true what Woodson got to the tournament his first two years. It's also true that he flamed out in the tournament pretty epically. It's also true that Woodson got to the tournament his first two years with teams that were largely built by Archie. Give Woodson credit for JHS and for Malik in year two, but he also brought us Gunn and Banks, and brought in the head case Xavier Johnson for his first season. We saw what Woodson's team roster looked like this year (guard shortage and an unused scholarship) and we've got a clear picture of his 2024-25 roster with zero recruits. -
My thought here is for Dolson to just let it burn to the ground. He is in charge of the athletic department, but he can't make hiring/firing decisions. He can't worry about the Cooks and the Simons, and he can't worry about the funds - if they dry up, Scott, stand back and let it burn. Tell Buckner that "you stepped in and screwed the pooch, so this is on you". I know that's a simplistic view of how the world (or the IU athletic department) works, but it's also the reality of the situation. Buckner and his buds have either created or perpetuated this sh*t show. I've seen this in my work place - people who have no business involving themselves in a situation do so anyway, and the sh*t flies. When that happens, my team and I have to pick up the pieces and try to make everything work. It's frustrating beyond words, and if the people would just stay in their lanes, everything would work out. Our CEO once said in a town hall "the day will come when you just have to trust the person in the next cubicle to do the job that they were hired to do". Either the university has an athletic director or they don't. And that extends to allowing Scott Dolson to do what he was hired to do. If he screws it up, so be it and deal with it. But don't tie his hands, and then when it goes south hang him out to dry.

Well, it wasn't like he had a recruiting trip that took him away. The more of this I hear/read, the more of an arrogant POS I see. And from what I just read about the BoT and open meetings law violations, he's right in step with his buddy, Quinn Buckner. It kind of makes me sick, actually. -
So, in your opinion, is 18-13 (10-10) "good"? I see it as merely adequate.

I don't think in the case of Woodson it "slow learners" as much as nepotism and "taking care of one of their own". -

Read somewhere that Woodson refused to speak to another team when the coach asked him to. I have also heard comments that he doesn't particularly like Teri Moren and would prefer that the women's basketball team not participate in Hoosier Hysteria. Could be idle and random rumor, but it's what I've heard. Here's one post for reference: -

"people really like Woody", except for the other coaches who he thinks are beneath him. From what I've seen of him, he's an egomaniac who thinks his crap doesn't stink. He may have his bunch of friends (Quinn Buckner, Isiah Thomas, Ted Kitchel) fooled. -
