I said it earlier, but I thought Kenya was very active and vocal on the bench tonight. -

Just think if we pulled out 3 of the Northwestern, Maryland, Purdue, and Michigan games. -

This is where I am with Cronin. He's probably Underwood, Painter, Ryan as far as success. I want banner 6, but we can and have done a lot worse. Hopefully we land Stevens, though. -

I was a kid when these things happened, and by the time I was a teenager in the 90s and knew better, I was embarrassed by his actions. Emotionally intelligent adults can control their temper in public and not resort to violent actions. Helluva basketball coach, and did a lot of good in this world as well. He was a very complex individual. Chris Beard is 100% not Bob Knight as a basketball coach, and does not have his reputation for all the good Bob Knight did outside the game either. There are better options than a guy who probably beat the hell out of his girlfriend, has an alcohol problem, and is 66-59 in conference games. -

66-59 in conference games is not crushing it. -

Chris Beard is 66-59 through 7 full seasons as a power conference coach. He averages 9.5 wins and 8.5 losses a year in conference. That is not an elite coach. -

We have won so many off-seasons... we don't need to move the needle, win the press conference, energize the fanbase... we need to hire a coach that wins and has manageable skeletons in their closet. If Cronin had the RMK connection Beard does, some Indiana fans would crawl through glass to hire him. Their resumes are basically equal. -

I also really like McCasland, and would love to get him out of Texas if possible. -

He doesn't win the press conference but could be guy who just wins. I don't know about hanging banner 6, but we'd hang a few Big 10 banners and rarely miss a tournament. We'd be more Underwood's Illinois and Painter's Purdue than Indiana from the 70s and 80s. -

If he was sincere and not just doing it for a job, and he spent time in women's shelters volunteering, then yes I'm starting to believe he cares about more than himself winning basketball games. -

The fact there is silence, instead of being reactionary, might be signaling they are taking a more professional approach. This latest turn is only a little over 24 hours old, and possibly complicated by a man who is cornered and reacting emotionally at whatever is happening. This man also has very powerful friends. -

In the long run, I don't think other coaches view any of that as a factor. They're smart enough to know if you win, you get cheers, and if you lose, you get boos. -

If he wants to continue to show his @$$, let him. He's the only one who suffers in the long run. IU will proceed professionally and hopefully make a great decision on the next coach. Mike Woodson's tenure at IU as a thorn in the sides of fans will be forgotten quickly with any amount of success. We all feel that Mike Woodson is acting unprofessionally and with retribution in mind, and no one supports someone acting like that. None of us or the leadership at Indiana should be acting in a manner like that, either. Let MW make his own bed. Even if it's not until the end of the season, he's still the one who has to lie in it. -

Yes, it should apply to him as well. If he decided to be unprofessional, that is on him and reflects on him. No one else has to respond in kind. -

Revenge and retribution has no place in a professional setting. -

I didn't say his removal was about race. I said I believe he is receiving racist messages. -

Yep that was my point. It still doesn't make it right, and we should all still condemn it. Receiving those messages, as non-threatening as they may actually turn out to be, is not something anyone deserves. Call him a terrible basketball coach, call him lazy, call him old, call him aloof, but yes I have personally heard people say that Indiana U needs to stop hiring n-word coaches, and a simple search on x can find others. -

Let him "control the narrative" in this way. Ultimately, it's a short term PR issue that fades away by the start of next season at the latest. It does no lasting damage to the university or program. He's out at the end of the season, and then he can go do and say whatever he wants, but he will fade into relative obscurity, and his coaching career at Indiana will be remembered for the record and results, not the way he went out. The leadership and decision makers at IU just need to stay professional and on course. Mike Woodson failed with on the court results in black and white, that will speak for itself. I do have some small defense for Woodson that I believe he is receiving racist and threatening messages. Unfortunately, we do have that dark corner of our fanbase, like many other fanbases. However, there is no credible threat IMO, just really bad people able to talk nonsense digitally without the threat of being punched in the face for being shity racists. -

Chris007, I hold you personally responsible for lack of official confirmation right now. I just sent my boss your contact info as the reason for my lack of productivity today. You can expect a strongly worded email incoming. -

This isn't a court of law, though. I agree innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This is also a PR and values issue for a University that is over 50% female. The message sent is that winning basketball games is more important than women being safe. -

I believe that the University of Texas investigated and fired him with cause. At the time he was having a lot of success, too. -

It would make it very hard, harder than you supporting this current team and coach. I know my wife would be out 100%.
